Have You Recreated Your Favorite K-Pop Looks?

From “outfits inspired by K-Pop albums” back in 2020 to “what I would wear if I was an idol” starting in 2021, fans have been setting trends within the community based on their own styles. From the outside, K-Pop is known for its forward fashion, and fans have only further developed this aspect after bringing it into their own lives—if they weren’t already interested in fashion. Trends like these allow fellow fans in the community to show their creativity by posting their own interpretations of outfits.

K-Pop idols each portray themselves through not only their music, but also through their individual styles. Their fashion senses are appreciated among fans, and these same fans are putting their own twists upon them!

Outfits Inspired by Different K-Pop Albums & Eras

When it comes to the outfits inspired by different K-Pop albums and eras, details such as the colors, prints, and the group’s known aesthetic are fused together with each fan’s personal style to create a new final look. The trend that started back in March 2020 on Twitter has since found its way onto TikTok, and people were quick to jump back on it! One TikTok user, estherxlinda, shared her new looks in a video, which pair her love for K-Pop with her punk style aesthetics, featuring her signature button-ups, multiple layers, and strictly silver accessories.

This resurgence of trends allows for artistry from both the idol and the fan to show and be inspired. As Jay from ENHYPEN said in their J-14 Interview: “In a way, fashion is a means to express yourself when you meet someone for the first time. So depending on what kind of person you want to be portrayed as, I think you can buy or wear clothes accordingly.”

What Would You Wear if You Were an Idol?

When we’re at home watching the consistent flow of content from our favorite idol’s schedules, it’s only natural that we would think, “What would I wear if I was an idol?” This new fashion trend was first posted by TikTok user Kayla Connell on December 29 with the sound “Counting Stars” by BE’O featuring Beenzino. Prime moments in an idol’s life for fashion included airport fashion, dance practice outfits, music show presenting outfits, award show red carpet looks, and variety show outfits.

Dance Practice Outfits

Kep1er’s Hikaru follows the trendy sportswear look for her dance practice outfits, shown by the Adidas stripes down the sides.

If comfort is a need for you, NCT’s Shotaro always goes for a casual look, such as joggers paired with an oversized hoodie. And of course, you can’t miss out on his Jordans.

Award Show Outfits

For your award show outfit, full formal glam is usually the go-to theme. IVE member Wonyoung’s full-length red dress is a good idea as it complements her face makeup too, making her all ready for the night.

GOT7’s BamBam switches out the usual plain two-piece for a detailed suit paired with his jewelry and smartly uses his chest tattoos as an added accessory. Another way to make your formal outfit yours is to have your own signature piece of eyewear.

Everyday Outfits

In turn, if you're looking for an everyday outfit that will keep you warm while we await spring, TWICE’s Nayeon is your new go-to! A crocheted item, whether it be a scarf or hat, can be a great transition piece for this winter, and knitwear can be a great add-on to your wardrobe.

SEVENTEEN’s The8 can be found wearing statement pants paired with color-coordinated layers on top. So if you’re going out, this may be the one for you.
