Despite the cold weather, Washington, D.C. felt the temperature rise when PSYCHIC FEVER touched down for the first stop of their U.S tour.
Outside of the historic Howard Theater - a staple in the D.C community known for showcasing legendary acts such as Chaka Khan, The Roots, and Kendrick Lamar - fans of the group were wrapped around the block. It is no exaggeration to say, PSYCHIC FEVER has made a massive impact in the States and a sold-out show is proof of their success.
Before the group had even made it to the stage, the venue was roaring with excited cheers and buzzing with energy. As the lights went down signaling the anticipated start of the show, the roaring cheers erupted into deafening excitement and the seven members were the spark that ignited a flame for the night.
PSYCHIC FEVER brings a hypnotic energy, seamlessly blending hip-hop, R&B, and dance in a way that captivates fans worldwide—culminating in a setlist that perfectly showcases their dynamic artistry. Performing tracks such as “TALK TO ME NICE,” “Bittersweet,” “Cold Rain” and recently released hit “What’s Happenin,’” there wasn’t a fan in the venue not singing along with the group. From the floor to the balcony, from fan to security, you could not escape the group’s infectious energy that urged you to dance and sing along.
Following, were unit sets featuring “Rocket” with Kokoro, Weesa and Ren, “Perfect” with Ren, Jimmy, and Weesa and the exciting “Psyfe Cypher.” From seeing the group's sensual side with “Paradise” and “Hotline” to their playful songs like “BEE-PO,” fans were living the best of both worlds.
The latter half of the show transitioned us from a concert to an EDM club, courtesy of member Ryoga (DJ RYOGA) and Ren’s set. Just as fans were coming down from the hype of the performance, the group came out to share their thoughts and announce that this would unfortunately be their last song of the night: “IGNITION.” If you’ve been to any J/K-Pop concert, you know that until the entire group is wearing matching T-shirts the show cannot end–it’s basically a law at this point.
So when the members said their goodbyes and thanked everyone for coming, no one moved a muscle and instead broke out into chants of “Encore” and to our pleasure, the group returned to perform their insanely viral hit “Just Like Dat.”
For fans, as the show came to a close it felt surreal to know we were the first in the U.S. to experience what the rest of the stops were in for. For PSYCHIC FEVER, their first U.S. tour is a turning point in their career. Starting out in Japan and performing shows throughout Asia and Europe, it is a testament to their talent to be taking on a stateside tour and hopefully in the future–a world tour. Whenever that happens, just know we will be there! If you can’t get enough of PSYCHIC FEVER, check out our interview with the group to learn a bit more about them!
