Types of Face Masks

Face masks are always the best way to keep your skin nourished throughout the year. Millions of masks are sold each day worldwide—that’s how much of an impact they make on your skin! Masks contain all kinds of ingredients to tackle every kind of skin concern that anyone may have such as anti-aging, fine lines, and acne. We are going to dig deep into the different types of skin masks that are on the market right now.

Exfoliators

Exfoliators are the perfect face masks to remove excess sebum and oil, and even remove those dead skin cells. When you use an exfoliator, the small particles are able to get deep into your pores to clean them out and keep skin looking smooth and supple. Most importantly, they remove the dead skin cells that keep skin tone looking dull, which will eventually brighten your overall skin complexion. It’s preferred to use an exfoliator about 2-3 times a week for the best results because if you exfoliate too much, it may affect your skin in a negative way, such as causing dryness. Some exfoliators that I recommend are: Skinfood’s Black Sugar Honey Mask Wash Off and Neogen’s Bio-Peel Gauze Peeling.

Clay Masks

Clay masks are the best type of mask to clean out the pores. They are usually best for people who have oily to normal skin types, as it may cause the skin to dry up quickly. Clay masks do harden when left on the skin, so it sucks up the skin’s natural oils and any impurities in the pores. This causes the skin to naturally feel more dry, which is not beneficial to those who have dry skin. Clay masks are recommended to be used 2-3 days per week. Clay masks that I recommend are: Innisfree’s Jeju Volcanic Clay Masks and Neogen’s Canadian Clay Pore Cleaner.

Sheet Masks

Sheet masks are loved by everyone as they are the most recognized type of masks and the most sold masks worldwide. They are one of the best and easiest to use, as they do not require any washing off unlike exfoliators and clay masks. Sheet masks are fiber masks that are soaked in serums that will tackle a specific skin concern. You can use a face mask everyday based on the type of skin concern you have on that day, but it is preferred to use them 2-3 times a week as well. Sheet masks’ main benefit is hydration as the ingredients will be soaked into your skin while being applied on the face. They can be used by all skin types because you can choose a flavor that perfectly fits your skin type. Sheet masks that I recommend are: Too Cool For School’s Egg Cream Masks and Mediheal’s Ampoule Masks.

Gel Masks

Gel masks are similar to face masks, but the material of the mask is made of a gel-like formula. They are used to provide moisture to dry and dehydrated skin while improving collagen levels. They are mainly used by people who have dry to combination skin, as the main concern they tackle is hydration. They are also preferred to be used 2-3 times a week because if it is used daily, it may provide too much moisture which can cause the skin to become too oily. Some gel masks are able to clean out impurities and bacteria from pores, much like clay masks, for those with dry skin. Some recommended gel masks are: Dr. Althea’s Water Glow Skin Renewal Hydrogel Masks and Mediheal’s Capsule 100 Bio Seconderm Masks.

Face masks are clearly loved by everyone worldwide as they do provide benefits to all skin concerns. But remember, you have to make sure that you use the right mask that fits your skin type to get the best results. What are your favorite type of masks to use? Let us know in the comments below!
