June’s “Autumn Leaves” feat. Cheeze Captures the Sound of Love During Fall
Maybe you haven’t heard of June before, but there’s a slight chance you’ve come across the name Planetarium Records, or PLT. Recently, the project has gained traction for the explosive tracks “Hocus Pocus” and “Igoholic.” June is one of six of Planetarium Records’s solo artists who come together to release collaborative tracks under the name PLT. Their concept is reminiscent of AOMG or H1GHR Music.
June has built his own reputation outside of the project. The vocalist used to be signed under BigHit Entertainment and was a trainee with BTS. Since then, however, he has released his own solo music, including the most recent “Autumn Leaves” featured on the single album HAVE A NICE TRIP! along with two B-sides.
“Autumn Leaves” sounds both fresh and nostalgic, much like the feeling of starting over with a new season mixed with the warm memories associated with fall. It’s a mellow R&B track colored with gorgeous vocals from both him and featured artist Cheeze. Their voices do vocal dances around each other, and their tones complement one another—both warm, comforting, and romantic. The harmonies in the background alongside the orchestral instrumental melody sound like falling in love. June really impresses with his effortless vocals, and everything Cheeze touches immediately sounds lovelier. If you’re a fan of “Love Story” by Suran featuring Crush, there’s a high chance you’ll fall in love with this song as well. The music video is a bit bittersweet, though, as the lone character embarks on a solo trip despite referencing a girl whom he loves and misses.
The other two tracks, “Trip All Day” and “Gas Station,” round the single album out with three completely different sounds. “Gas Station” is a bit funkier and upbeat but maintains that orchestral feel laced with an ‘80s beat. It’s perfect for driving down an open highway as the sun sets. The guitar solo that rounds out the song is a nice detail that adds texture. “Trip All Day” features fellow PLT member and rapper Moti. This is the most bumping song on the album; the verses maintain an upbeat tempo before building then dropping in the chorus. Moti suddenly explodes in the second verse with an autotuned rap. Listening to the song just makes you feel like a cool kid.
June proves his versatility despite his somewhat rookie status with this album release. It’s easy to hear his talent and his strength both as a solo artist as well as a cohesive member of PLT. “Autumn Leaves” was made for those in love during the fall season.
