Sophomore girl group ELRIS is joining the summer comeback rush with the perfect bright and warm beach anthem!

Summer Dream

Title track “Summer Dream” is definitely appropriately named as the setting is the quintessential summer beach party, with settings shot at the beach, pool, warm rainforest, a bright and cute cityscape, and even a nautical-themed room, complete with cerulean blue curtains. It’s difficult not to feel nostalgic and warm about past summer nights after one watch of this video. The aesthetic is super bright and happy and definitely elicits a great feeling. Not to mention, the girls of ELRIS are perfectly suited for such a sweet, warm concept.

What really makes the song stand out is the surprising melody that follows the opening chorus, which has a very late ‘90s early ‘00s pop sound to it that we don’t often hear in releases today. That addition throughout the song helps to make it more endearing and adds an element to it that makes it a little more than just your typical cute comeback.

The Album

In addition to the title, the new mini-album of the same title has four additional B-sides to enjoy, including a track composed by VIXX rapper Ravi. The track following the title, “Will Be Mine,” is a more dance-heavy pop track that is still cute, but doesn’t necessarily carry the same softness and warmth of “Summer Night.” “Will Be Mine” has its own charm for differing from the title.

Next we have Ravi’s track “말해,” which definitely sounds different melodically from the first two tracks because of the obvious funk influences. Still, given Ravi’s different musical style in general, this song fits surprisingly well with ELRIS’s image, and if you weren’t aware, you may not have immediately realized it was a Ravi-produced track. “챙겨주고 싶어” follows, the resident slow song of the album. Despite having a more ballad feel, the track still has a very happy and uplifting sound and is a nice switch-up from the previous tracks.

Summer Dream wraps up with “Focus,” another bright dance track that highlights the group’s vocals. All in all, the album has a very cohesive sound and is a treat for the summer months to come. Turn on “Summer Dream” during your time at the beach, and you’re sure to enjoy it to the fullest!
