Weekly Charts: July 5 - July 11

Just as seasons change, so does music on the charts to suit the moods of listeners. This month BLACKPINK, BTOB, NU’EST W, and Apink make it clear as July’s hottest artists with still more comebacks to anticipate to heat up the competition. Check out this week’s newest releases and chart toppers that reflect special summer memories through music.

TWICE AS NICE ON THE CHARTS

TWICE fires up the charts with their anticipated summer comeback with “Dance The Night Away” on July 9 off of their Summer Nights repackaged album. Their latest track features a fusion between tropical pop and EDM that diverges from their usual bubblegum pop hits. While the girls sing about cherishing summer memories to the tune of electro-pop, the chorus tops off with an energetic beat drop that leaves room for listeners to dance the summer nights away along with the nine ladies. Fresh on the charts, this new release currently ranks 14th on Instiz’s Weekly iChart and will most likely rise to the top of the charts, as did their last comeback with “What is Love?” which is still present in the Top 30 of music charts months after its release.

SUMMER TALES

Looking for a softer and light-hearted tune? MeloMance has you covered with their cheerful ballad, “Tale,” released on July 3 from their EP, The Fairy Tale. The indie duo sing about vivid images painted by the memories of friends, families, and loved ones in which we become the writers of our own developing stories. A break from loud beats and heavy love songs, MeloMance adds a sentimental layer among the summer charts that a variety of listeners can enjoy, adding the duo to the Top Five of weekly charts like MelOn, Genie, and Mnet, in addition to their previous single, “You,” from Two Yoo Project Sugarman Season 2 still remaining in the Top 20.

VIVID MEMORIES

R&B singer Yang Dail and Red Velvet’s Wendy released a summer collaboration on July 2 with “One Summer.” The two singers share the perspective of two lovers reminiscing their precious memories of their past summer romance that are still as clear as any hot summer day. Visuals of fresh grassfields and cool beaches along with sounds of crashing waves and chirping crickets bring these summer memories to life in the music video while Dail and Wendy’s refreshing vocals set the whole narrative. The single currently takes on the number nine spot on the Bugs! weekly music chart for listeners to add this cooling ballad into their summer playlist.

From electronic, to ballad, to coffee shop hits, the charts continue to add musical variety to create a distinctive summer sound for each listener. With more releases to look out for—SEVENTEEN, MAMAMOO, TRIPLE H, and more—expect more songs to complete your summer soundtrack.
