Seungri has finally released his first Korean solo album after five years! His solo album, The Great Seungri, is inspired by the popular movie Grease and also features his fellow labelmates B.I. from iKON and Mino from WINNER. He announced to fans that he has prepared a solo album and concert for them before he enlists in the military in early 2019. Although the rest of the BIGBANG members are currently in the military, he will not disappoint them and continue to release music on their behalf.  

The title song, “셋 셀테니 (1, 2, 3!),” is an upbeat rock track about a girl that goes to him after realizing he is the one for her. The music video is placed in the 1950s when rock started to become popular at that time. The video is a depiction of the movie Grease with the overall sets and props. Even the outfits are similar, with Seungri changing into a leather jacket and the girls wearing the long poodle skirts. It brings back many memories of the jukeboxes, vintage cars, and arcade games.

The next song, “Where R U From,” is a hip-hop track that features Mino from WINNER. The song is about falling in love with a girl from seeing her beauty, and he even included his bandmate G-DRAGON’s name in the lyrics. “Love is U” is a soft, yet upbeat track about having an empty heart, no matter how much you see other people, because you are still in love with someone else. This song is one of my favorite songs on the album and also features the artist Blue.D. “몰라도 (MOLLADO)” is an upbeat dance track featuring B.I. from iKon. The song is about falling in love at first sight and not caring about what others think. “달콤한 거짓말 (Sweet Lie)” is a soft rock track with parts of EDM about pretending to be fine but having many emotions associated when breaking up with someone.

The last four tracks are sung by Seungri alone as the first four songs included other artists. “Be Friend” is an upbeat electronic song about continuing to be friends with your girlfriend after breaking up with them. “Hotline” is an electronic dance song about constantly thinking of someone you love and wanting to see them. “혼자 있는법 (Alone)” is a slow song about constantly being reminded of the person you loved and the sadness associated with not being able to be with them anymore. This song is another favorite of the album because of the emotions that Seungri is able to express through his voice. The last song, “Good Luck to You,” is a mid-tempo guitar track with some electronic tunes about wishing the person you loved luck after they decided to leave you for someone else.

Seungri has released his solo album for fans before enlisting in the army and the song is filled with surprises. He is able to showcase his vocal and dance skills that are hidden while promoting with BIGBANG. Seungri has been the most anticipated comeback during the summer season.
