Apink Returns With New Concept in “I’m So Sick”
Apink has finally come back after a year! ONE & SIX is their seventh mini-album with the title track “I’m So Sick.” The album name derives from fans being ONE in combination with the SIX members of Apink. Apink began their career with an innocent, cute image before moving to more mature, sophisticated concepts. Finally, they have released their first ever sexy/bold concept with this mini-album.
“1도 없어 (I’m So Sick)” is a pop dance track about losing feelings for someone you once loved. The lyrics give off a sad, painful vibe with each of the members expressing their emotions in their singing. Coming back with a new concept has allowed each member to show off both their vocal and dance skills, finely tuned throughout the years. The most memorable line appears in the chorus: “bye bye bye,” which highlights the main message of the song in an image of a woman leaving her partner because she has grown sick of them.
“Alright” is an upbeat song about falling in love with someone and having first-love feelings. Eunji’s vocal skills are highlighted at the end of the song when she hits a beautiful high note. “Don’t Be Silly” is about being fed up with the person you once loved and telling them that you are too good for them. Once you hear the track’s beat, you can tell that the meaning of the song is similar to “1도 없어 (I’m So Sick)” in that they are both about a woman leaving her partner.
“별 그리고... (Forever Star…)” is one of our favorite songs on the album. It’s a ballad about reminiscing on happy memories that you once had with your loved one. Each of the member’s voices seemingly grow in beauty and intensity the more you continue listening to the song. “말보다 너 (Promise Me)” is another one of our favorites as the song has a soft melody paired with an upbeat tempo. The song is about falling in love with someone and wanting to spend all your time with them. “I Like That Kiss” is a similarly upbeat dance track about getting butterflies when you are with the person you love. You’ll automatically start dancing at the drop of the bass with its happy rhythm.
Apink has finally come back with a different concept commemorating their seventh anniversary as a group. The album boasts a variety of beats with each song and will undoubtedly surprise both casual listeners and fans. Please support Apink as they continue to promote during the summer season!
