GFRIEND’s Yuju has released a special solo track featuring talented R&B singer Suran! The duo released a comforting R&B single on June 29, marking the first time the two singers have worked together.

With the amount of vocal talent that exists in GFRIEND, it’s easy for a single member to be overlooked among the group as a whole. Yuju proves just how truly talented she is with the solo opening verse to this song, which is musically quite different from what is usually released by GFRIEND.

On the other hand, this is the type of track you would recognize from indie singer Suran, who has a certain timbre to her voice that is very fitting for R&B. Suran’s voice has an inflection of a piano bar performance from simpler days, with her vocal flavor being complemented by jazz instrumentals and a prominent piano. In contrast, Yuju’s vocals have a more classic feel to them.

Regardless, the two mesh incredibly well. Their differing vocal styles complement one another in a way that may not have been expected, but is certainly welcomed. There is a moment when the two harmonize that will definitely make goosebumps appear on your skin from how unique they sound together.

Unfortunately, there is no official music video for this track, only a lyric video. But given how vocally driven the song is, a visual aspect is totally unnecessary. However, this is one collab we didn’t know we needed until we got it! We look forward to more collabs like this across different genres in K-Pop.
