Band of the Week: N.Flying

Welcome back to another edition of band of the week! This week we feature N.Flying, another FNC Entertainment band with both spunk and charisma. Formed in 2013, N.Flying first started in Japan with the release of their album BASKET. Kwon Kwangjin, the original bassist for fellow FNC lablemate CNBLUE, dropped out of the band before their debut; however, he continued to train with N.Flying’s other members Lee Seunghyub, Cha Hun, and Kim Jaehyun. After BASKET, they released One and Only in Japan which sailed to the top of the charts. Then in 2015 they finally made their Korean debut with Awesome. Later, in 2017, vocalist and former contestant from the hit show Produce 101 season 2 Yoo Hweseung was added to the group, making them a five-member band.

In 2014 they appeared on FNC Entertainment’s reality show Cheongdam-dong 111 and they were such a hit on the show that the second season focused on them as a five-episode predebut show. Cheongdam-dong 111: N.Flying’s Way of Becoming a Star gave audiences a more in-depth look at FNC’s latest band.

So far this year they proved to be busy with two mini-albums within five months of each other. Their latest mini-album, How Are You with title song “How R U Today,” climbed the charts from May to July this summer. An upbeat ballad with some low-key rapping and a sweet melody, “How R U Today” became the perfect summer anthem for anyone feeling the summer’s gentle breeze. With its pop-rock appeal, it remained on charts and gave a new, more sensitive, appeal to the band.

In June of this year, they held their first overseas fanmeeting in Bangkok, Thailand. With funny missions and an excited crowd, the fanmeeting was a great success. This later spawned their tour in Japan starting in December of this year. N.Flying's first Livehouse tour, The Real IV, will start December 5th in Osaka, Japan. No news yet of a broader international tour, but with their popularity growing and their recent album release giving them record-breaking sales, it would not be surprising if they were to do a world tour next year.

Be sure to brush up on all of N.Flying’s songs and anticipate their comeback sometime in 2019. You wouldn’t want to miss what N.Flying has to offer!
