Favorite Music Video: ONEUS - “Valkyrie”

Honestly, there isn’t much to it. ONEUS’s “Valkyrie” is a great song accompanied by a great K-Pop music video. In an abandoned setting that could be a haunted attic, there are blocks of light big enough for a full group to dance in. It reminds me of 2012 INFINITE and SM Entertainment releases and I love it. If you have read any of my previous articles, it’s pretty clear I’m all for a nostalgic K-Pop feel, and ONEUS does it justice while keeping it contemporary and aligning with what current fans like. ONEUS has just started, and all it took was one music video to keep me interested. They have my attention, and I’m excited for what’s next.

Favorite Song: B1A4 - “A Day of Love”

It hurts my little heart not seeing the B1A4 I fell in love with, but it comforts me to see them well and happy making heartwarming songs. “A Day of Love” is a wonderful digital single to reintroduce B1A4 into the K-Pop market, even if without Baro and Jinyoung from the group’s original lineup. CNU, Gongchan, and Sandeul are doing an amazing job at keeping B1A4 alive and “A Day of Love” is proof of that. The group has been through quite some changes, but their essence remains the same. They have always been a comfort group for me and this behind-the-scenes, agenda recap video put a smile on my face. While “A Day of Love” is not the type of music I currently listen to, it has been on constant repeat for the past two days while I work, calming my heart and reminding me that as long as B1A4 is here, there still is some good in the world.

Favorite Music Show Performance: ATEEZ- “Say My Name” for MNet Vertical Fancam

2019 has barely begun and the rookies are already dominating K-Pop! I love vertical fancams, so this choice might be slightly biased. ATEEZ’s “Say My Name” is everything I want from a good performance: the members are having fun, the choreography adds but doesn’t distract from the song, and every member had their moment to shine. “Say My Name” is one of my favorite releases this year so far and ever since their performance has been released, I’ve watched it at least five time a day. I’m (still) not big on ATEEZ and have yet to learn who they all are, but this performance specifically has been a great “ATEEZ 101” member-identification video for me. Do yourself a favor, watch it at least once, scroll down to the comments, and find your new bias and several bias wreckers.
