LOONA Pre-Releases Track “365” Ahead of Full Comeback

Fans have been frustrated for many months at the lack of activity for the rapidly growing girl group LOONA, which has been fairly silent since their last comeback in February. Orbits were so concerned about their lack of activity that they actually created a movement on Twitter using the hashtag #SaveLOONA to encourage streams and sales (you can read more about that here). The result of the campaign skyrocketed latest album X X to number one on the U.S. iTunes Top Albums chart eight months after the album’s initial release, a feat virtually unheard of until that day.

Two months after the successful movement, Orbits were surprised by a sudden drop of a cryptic teaser from LOONA, announcing a return on December 13. Not much information was provided, but anticipation certainly grew for the unexpected return.

“365” is a soft and comforting ballad through and through, perfect for the holiday season. The song starts off gentle with only a simple piano melody accompanying the gorgeous vocals of the girls, giving them a chance to truly shine. The slow tempo and mild percussion kicks in about a minute and a half in, eliciting a wave of emotion in the listener as the song ramps up. The one word that could truly describe this release is simply “beautiful.” The video is casual, showcasing shots of the members painting in an art studio while enjoying each other’s company. It’s very simple, yet elegant, and allows the track itself to shine through everything else.

No official date has been released for the full comeback, but a cryptic teaser featuring Heejin has been released. Without much information to go on yet, Orbits can at least find some comfort in the release of “365” in the meantime. They certainly have, as “365” managed to snag the number one spot on U.S. iTunes’s Top Songs, making them the first K-Pop girl group to top both charts. We can’t wait to see LOONA back in the spotlight!
