B-Sides: A Cheerful Playlist

2019 is marching to its end and we hope you are enjoying the final days of the year to the fullest. Last week, we featured a playlist of blasting B-sides to energize your sluggish mornings and this week we have picked a few cheerful songs to brighten up your mood with huge smiles.

“Like always” - X1

The first song in the playlist is from X1’s debut album QUANTUM LEAP. Despite X1 being on hiatus due to numerous unfortunate happenings, the group has gifted us five beautiful tracks. One among such songs is the peppy track “Like Always.” The upbeat track featuring the sweet voices of the members is a perfect song to lighten up a listener's mood. With the lyrics “You’re the prettiest when you smile,” the song stays solid with its instantly catchy chorus and electro-instruments. The song stands out as all the more special as it is the only track to show off the fluffy side of the members during live performances.

“Thursday” - GOT7

GOT7’s peppy song from their latest album Call My Name is indeed one of the favorites of Ahgases this year. “Thursday” is one of the side tracks being performed in their comeback promotions and reveals the members’ hidden aegyo qualities, satisfying the audience. The song was written by the leader JB, and confesses the feeling of being in love and waiting for the weekend to meet a loved one. The anxious feeling of waiting to meet the girl is presented in a beautiful way with fun sounding beats. With its irresistible hooking chorus and rhythm, the song catches listeners’ attention and makes them sing along.

“Play Hard” – SF9

*My personal favorite performance

“Play Hard” from SF9’s mini album, NARCISSUS is another side track in the list to be promoted in the comeback stages. The song composed by Zuho gets listeners ready to party with rapid beats and rap-influenced verses, and the song serves as a perfect track to show off some classy moves. The lyrics are relatable to every individual of the 20th century, who work or study throughout the week. To escape the tiring cycle of work, studying, SNS, and more, the members call out listeners for a Friday party. As the track plays on, every listener is bound to get attracted towards Zuho both as a producer and a rapper as he performs the song with his exuberant rapping skills.

“Follow Me & U” - Jinhyuk

The baby sun of UP10TION is all grown up to shine brighter as a solo artist in 2019. The former participant of PRODUCE X 101, Jinhyuk gifted his fans with his debut mini-album, S.O.L comprised of three new tracks. Among the songs, “Follow Me & U,” is a track with a playful tune and rhythm. Being a rapper, Jinhyuk keeps the stanzas simple and sweet to make the listener feel at ease. As a debuting solo artist, he addresses his fans through the lyrics by asking them to follow him through this new venture. The interjections used in the chorus parts gives a casual effect, making the song sound friendly and fun.

Hope you enjoyed listening to the suggested playlist. Which one of the above mentioned tracks is your favorite? Comment below!
