B-Sides: Valentine’s Day Special

It’s that time of year again when Valentine’s Day rolls around. The emotionally dead cynic in me questions why we must celebrate such a holiday, but the realist and organizer in me is super into making a list of holiday-appropriate K-Pop B-side tracks. So whether you’re like the darker side of me or a person who genuinely enjoys the holiday, this list of songs makes for a perfect Valentine’s Day.

“My Valentine” - VIXX

This one is self-explanatory based on the title. VIXX has released plenty of subtly sexy tracks in the past, but this is the latest gift from the EAU DE VIXX album. While the song has a distinctly sexy vibe and rhythm, there’s also a distinct sophisticated air to this track that makes it all the more alluring. Who wouldn’t want one of these six boys singing to them as their valentine for this special day?

“Singularity” - BTS

BTS’s V producing solo tracks has proven to be lethal to just about anyone who experiences attraction to another person. With a voice as deep as the Marianas Trench and an overflowing charisma that can’t be ignored, “Singularity” is guaranteed to have you mesmerized from the second it begins. There’s nothing quite as sexy as the combination of V’s deep vocals, a soft R&B melody, and the opening choreography featuring some intense touches.

“Wonderland” - Dreamcatcher

Uncharacteristic of the dark concept girl group, “Wonderland” is a breath of fresh air that we didn’t know we needed. While still maintaining somewhat of a mysterious air about them, Dreamcatcher delivers this sensual track perfectly. The smooth beats contrasted by staccato vocal tones make for an intriguing and addicting track.

“Prove It” - GOT7

Ask any Aghase and they will tell you that “Prove It” has Jaebum’s solo persona Defsoul written all over it. Jaebum’s tracks produced under Defsoul are undeniably seductive and sultry almost every time, and it is an absolute treat that this was brought to his full group. We never see sexy tracks from GOT7, and on top of that the song is incredibly sweet and romantic as well.

“I Guess I Need U” - B.A.P

B.A.P surprisingly has quite a number of sensual tracks perfect for the holiday, with the most famous probably being “Body & Soul.” But we’ve chosen the hidden gem “I Guess I Need U,” a song that has all the makings for a seductive melody, but with a bit of a twist in the lyrics that give a darker look into love and lust. The song depicts going back to someone they wish to break away from, a feeling we know all too well.
