Everglow Confidently Flaunts Their Charms in Debut

Get ready for your newest group obsession! Everglow, Yuehua Entertainment’s newest girl group, makes a bold appearance on the scene with their debut track “Bon Bon Chocolat.” The title track comes along with single album ARRIVAL OF EVERGLOW, which features two B-sides as well.

“Bon Bon Chocolat”

I promise you, you’re not ready for this track. Whatever you were expecting in this new group is immediately shattered, as the driving rhythm begins the second the song starts. There is no prompting of the intense melody or a few seconds of silence in preparation—the group just dives right into it. The melody has heavy hip-hop influences that make it instantly catchy while allowing the vocal talent of the group to shine. The pace picks back up as the girls declare in the pre-chorus, “You’re gonna want my everything,” building up to the high-energy rhythm line that opens the song. There’s no doubt that this song is a certified banger.

Just like the musicality of this track, the visuals chosen for the video are bold and brash, giving a powerful vibe to the girls. The fashion in particular sticks out quite a bit; ruffled sleeves, full sequin shirts, and pleather skirts are some of the staples that are immediately noticeable, and somehow extremely fitting to the song itself. There isn’t a particular theme in the videography, with a heavier focus on the members themselves and the choreography of the song. Speaking of the choreography, it’s incredibly sharp, unique, and flawlessly executed. The combination of the song, the bold fashion choices, and the eye-catching choreography makes for a surprisingly stellar debut.

The Album

Single album ARRIVAL OF EVERGLOW begins with the mild “Moon,” a modern pop track that melds together acoustic and EDM melodies to create a mellow atmosphere around the song. Without a doubt, it has a softer edge compared to the title track that follows. The title proves to be a standout on this album, as the second B-side “D+1” has a more slow and melancholy sound with a ballad melody. If you were expecting an album full of the “Bon Bon Chocolat” type of sound, you won’t be finding it here.

With only two B-sides released by the group so far, it’s hard to say what type of concept and sound they will go for in the future. But for today, there’s no doubt that the strength of “Bon Bon Chocolat” will gain the group the attention they need for a solid start in the K-Pop industry.
