Throwback Thursday: Colors

In an industry so visual-heavy, it’s no wonder that K-Pop places such an importance on color. From red to blue and white to black, color is everywhere in the K-Pop industry, whether it be in idols’ ever-changing hair colors or even their music. For this week’s Throwback Thursday, check out some of The Kraze’s most colorful picks below!

“RED” - HyunA

Released as the title song off her 2014 mini-album A Talk, “RED” is about as classic HyunA as you can get. Known for her fiery personality and unapologetic attitude, “RED” shows HyunA at her craziest, sexiest, and feistiest. Though the song and its accompanying music video may leave you raising your eyebrows, it’s indisputable that this song is a banger; it’s no wonder “RED” gave her her first music show win.

“BLUE” - BIGBANG

As hard as BIGBANG hits with their party tracks, the iconic boy group can just as easily pull at heartstrings. Look no further than “BLUE” for proof of their versatility. Serving as the lead single off 2012’s Alive, “BLUE” was a wildly successful song for the group, even going as far as to become their first “perfect all-kill.” Where HyunA’s “RED” is loud in every way, “BLUE” is the perfect song for those feeling empty from lost love.

“Black or White” - CROSS GENE

Off their 2017 mini-album MIRROR, CROSS GENE’s “Black or White” can only be described as a hardcore dance track. With its gritty guitars, aggressive beats, and effects that sound like something more out of a rock song than K-Pop, “Black or White” is a pretty intense song. In fact, the only thing more intense than the song may be its music video. One thing’s for sure, CROSS GENE pulled out all the stops for this one.

“VIOLET” - PENTAGON

Released originally in 2017, PENTAGON’s “VIOLET” is laced with much the same resigned heartbreak as BIGBANG’s “BLUE.” In the song, the boys liken their past love to a flower and although the track certainly isn’t a happy one, this metaphor paired with PENTAGON’s token impressive vocals makes for a beautiful release.
