Two Tunes for Cat Lovers Worldwide!

It’s no secret that many of us at The Kraze hold a special place in our hearts for all of the fluffy felines on this planet, but what about within K-Pop? With a global population of about 600 million, cats are some of the worlds most loved (and hated) animals—they even have their own international cat day on August 8! There are quite a few tracks dedicated to these ferociously adorable forces of nature; however, we’ve decided on two songs that are totally worth checking out.

AOA - Like a Cat

You’ve heard of it, we’ve heard of it, it’s AOA’s hit single! Despite being published back in 2014, “Like a Cat” is still fairly popular within all corners of the K-Pop community. In the music video, AOA becomes a group of gorgeous catwomen and . . . rob a museum? It’s still rather confusing four and a half years later, but that doesn’t make the track any less enjoyable. Frequented by Jimin’s iconic “Hey” and accompanied by the ever-so-slightly sultry dancing (or kneading), the bop of the past is most certainly one that should be added to your playlists! Who knows, maybe you’ll walk in on your cat mastering the choreography in feline fashion.

Lee Hi - No One

So you’ve seen a woman act like a cat, now get ready for a woman . . . becoming one? “No One” is a rather recent track—there’s actually an article on it that you can read here, but that doesn’t make it any less review-worthy. After all, there are cats everywhere in the music video, from the several paintings of cats to the porcelain cat that we see Lee Hi turn into, they’re a central piece to the simple yet sophisticated video. Even that doesn’t give the cat symbolism justice as Lee Hi sports a blue cat collar (bell included) to complement her feline behavior. This latin-inspired bop is definitely worth checking out. Curiosity won’t kill the cat this time!

These are two of many songs devoted to our furry friends, but the cats’ reign doesn’t stop there. There are many other examples outside of song titles and music videos, such as gugudan’s album Act 4. Cait Sith (referring to a large black cat with a spot on their chest, fabled to wander the highlands of Scotland) or even the name of CLC’s growing fandom, Cheshire! Once you check out the bops above, maybe you’ll find your own examples to share with us.
