Back with a new digital single on September 6, Colde returns with “Control Me,” his latest release since his Love Part 1 album released earlier this spring.

In all of his solo projects, Colde has pushed the limits of the Korean R&B scene, experimenting with endless styles and genres from rap and hip-hop to acoustic and jazz. “Control Me” takes its influence from the latter, with the song featuring a smooth electric guitar set against relaxed percussion and Colde’s even more relaxed verses. One of Colde’s greatest strengths as a musician—aside from his incredible production skills—is his sense of flow; “Control Me” showcases his talents at their best, with the singer’s smooth rap verses adding a layer of modernism to the otherwise traditional instrumentation.

Just as the title suggests, “Control Me” is about giving oneself entirely to a lover. In the track, Colde pleads with his lover to take his all, wholey deserting his sense of individuality, even going as far as to tell his lover that they can shape his heart how they want. Though the song can obviously be taken in a romantic light, it’s just as easily understood as a critique on toxic relationships. The love of which Colde sings is certainly not a healthy one, but hey, at least the result is a tune that’s 10 out of 10.
