The Search for Treasure: ATEEZ

ATEEZ has been growing tremendously since their debut. Although they only debuted a little over a year ago, they have shown numerous styles of music, from edgy to upbeat summer tunes that tie in hip-hop and electronic trap-inspired music, that has brought them great international attention.

Who is ATEEZ?

ATEEZ, short for "A TEEnager Z,” is an eight member group consisting of Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi, Wooyoung, and Jongho. During pre-debut, ATEEZ was known as KQ Fellaz. They did a portion of their training in California, where they released a show and many dance performance covers, including the viral dance video of the song “Pick It Up” by Famous Dex (Ft. A$AP Rocky).

They debuted on October 24, 2018 under KQ Entertainment with the double title tracks “Treasure” and “Pirate King.”

Their first album, Treasure EP. 1: All to Zero, charted at No. 13 on Billboard’s World Albums Chart when released and rose to No. 12 in its second week. This began the introduction of the Treasure series. Their second album, Treasure Ep. 2: Zero to One, rose to No. 5 on Billboard's World Albums Chart and the single “Say My Name” even made it to No. 8 on the Billboard World Songs list.

In the summer of 2019, ATEEZ earned their first M Countdown win with the song “Wave” off of their album Treasure EP. 3: One To All.

Their first full-length album, Treasure Ep. Fin: All to Action, contains 11 songs with title track “Wonderland.” This album peaked at No. 7 on Billboard’s World Albums Chart after its release.

ATEEZ kept themselves busy after their debut with an immediate world tour in 2019 called the Expedition Tour where they visited the U.S., Europe, and Australia to showcase their songs and talents. They also attended both KCON NY 2019 and KCON LA 2019

TREASURE EPILOGUE: Action To Answer

The mini-album Treasure EPILOGUE: Action to Answer was released January 6, 2020 with title track “Answer.” This is the final part to ATEEZ’s Treasure series, as it ties all of the music videos together. Check out the recently released song below!

Through their charisma and powerful dance moves, ATEEZ’s popularity has rapidly grown.

With their “Eight makes one team” introduction chant, ATEEZ takes pride in their teamwork and claims it for the majority of their success. Rapper Mingi has stated, “Aside from looking at whether we succeed or not, I want ATEEZ to be a group that continues to venture out into unexplored territory and challenge themselves when it comes to music.” The Treasure series is only the beginning of what ATEEZ has in store for their future.
