Throwback Thursday: Best of HYUKOH

Originally debuting in 2014, HYUKOH is now one of today’s most successful K-Indie bands. With an endless list of accolades to their name, this week The Kraze looks back at some of the band’s biggest hits.

“Wi Ing Wi Ing

Off their 2014 debut mini-album 20, HYUKOH came onto the Korean Indie scene with their track “Wi Ing Wi Ing,” and boy, did they hit it big right from the get go. With pensive lyrics offset by deceitfully light acoustics, the song took the band straight to the top of the Gaon chart and even ended up the most downloaded song according to Naver’s yearly ranking in 2015.

“Comes And Goes”

“Comes And Goes” is the title track from the band’s 22 mini-album. With a funky bass line and an even groovier guitar hook, the song offers a peculiar sense of nostalgia in spite of its upbeat energy. The track is one that’s instantly enjoyable from the first listen, and this was not missed by Korea: “Comes And Goes” was the band’s second track to hit No. 1 on the Gaon chart and earned the band several nominations, including a win at the 2016 Korean Music Awards for “Best Modern Rock Song.”

“TOMBOY”

In 2017, HYUKOH released their first full album 23, and along with it, the wistful title track “TOMBOY.” The song peaked at No. 2 on the Gaon chart, along with topping numerous digital charts on Korean streaming sites. In 2018, “TOMBOY” won both “Best Modern Rock Song” and “Song of the Year” at the Korean Music Awards. The song was even recently featured in the currently airing OCN drama Search.
