Throwback Thursday: Easy Autumn

As the months get colder, the need for cozy music grows and The Kraze is here to help up your autumn playlist with some of our fall favorites from years past.

“Always in Love” - Bye Bye Badman

This track by indie rock band Bye Bye Badman was released as a single in 2017. With a career spanning nearly a decade, the band has had plenty of time to experiment with sound, but there’s no denying that a relaxing, slightly retro sound fits them best. With soft vocals and light strings set over a moderate beat, “Always in Love” sounds just like a sunny autumn day.

“Youth” - OOHYO

In 2016, OOHYO released the twin singles “Youth (DAY)” and “Youth (NIGHT),” in which the former is an acoustic take of the latter’s electro-pop version. OOHYO is known for having one of the most distinctive, calming tonal colors in the K-Indie scene, making even her most uptempo songs feel like a warm blanket on a cold night. In these songs, OOHYO’s whimsical voice builds a world in which youth is the focus.

“Be Calm” - Hwasa

On MAMAMOO’s 2018 mini-album Yellow Flower, Hwasa released her solo “Be Calm.” The R&B track shows off Hwasa’s soothing voice, with limited instrumentals aside from a mellow electric guitar. Though released in the spring, and consequently full of springtime imagery, the self-reflective song is ideal for those chilly autumn days when the passage of time is most apparent.

“Dance” - offonoff

The entirety of offonoff’s 2017 album boy. sounds like the liminal space that only exists at 4 a.m., with each track—regardless of subject matter—sounding more introspective than the last. “Dance” is easily the sultriest song on the album, and also the one that sounds the least lonely, as Colde croons about the inspiration for this song. Clearly meant to comfort someone at night, the lyrics and soft R&B feels make for a great listen as nights grow longer.
