B-Sides: February 2020 Favorites Pt. 2

As we bid goodbye to another beautiful month of the year, here we give you a few more February 2020 favorite B-side tracks to enjoy this week.

“Go Baby” – KARD

The first song on our playlist is “Go Baby” from the co-ed group’s latest mini-album, RED MOON. With upbeat drums and rhythm, “Go Baby” is a delightful party listen. Contradictory to the light music, the song sings about the protagonist and their lover going their separate ways. Putting oneself before any relationship is portrayed as the members voice out both perspectives for a boy and a girl. The spotlight shines much on J.Seph and Somin, as they sweep the attention of the fans with fierce rap verses and high-hitting vocals. Being the first track on the album along with hyping beats and a catchy chorus, the song scores to be fans’ favorite from the very first listen.

“Enemy” – KARD

The breakup concept is a favorite of the co-ed group, the other song from the fourth mini-album pops in: “Enemy.” Somin and Jiwoo come together as a duo to proclaim about another painful relationship. The song has banging music and bold vocals, as the members tag their former lover as an “Enemy.” Out of the ordinary, the two female artists get their first duo performance and fit well together. Following the standards of being the co-ed’s work, the song keeps the listeners’ spirits high with a catchy chorus and beat.

“Break Your Rules” - The Boyz

Mentioning every song from The Boyz’s first full album would be suffice but here we have one of the pretty ones, “Break Your Rules,” for this week. With the guitar stringing a happy beat, the members sing about their beloved being a rule-breaker and fluttering their hearts. The song has beautiful shifts from brighter to mellow and sweet tones, keeping the audience engaged during the track. The song may not be an earworm, but takes its own pace with pleasant vocals and simple pop beats. On the whole, the track is indeed a refreshing listen found in the album’s playlist.

“Moon Movie” – Moonbyul

MAMAMOO’s favorite oppa, Moonbyul, had her own studio album, Dark Side of the Moon. The album comes out with five tracks showing off the artist’s potential both as a vocalist and rapper. “Moon Movie” from the album is already a well-known song for Moomoos (fandom name), as they got to watch it live in one of the group’s concerts. Known for her swag, Moonbyul flaunts herself being an amazing artist and requests her haters to watch her life story as a movie rather than complaining. With spooky key notes, the track places itself as a slow-paced song with attitude. The lines sing, “The reason I laugh I want to brush off negativity,” expressing confidence and shaking off negativity. The song is indeed a perfect anthem for all fighters that  can boost every listener’s self-esteem.

“Black Or White” - Dreamcatcher

2020 is definitely being a year for numerous first full-length albums and one among them is Dreamcatcher’s [Dystopia: The Tree of Language]. “Black or White,” one of the beautiful songs in the album, expresses the choice of being unique. With the bass guitar stringing an interlude, the song has an influence on rock music. The chorus sings, “Black or White I’m neither I don’t have the answer you want,” proclaiming the members’ standout qualities. It is indeed an empowering song to every dreamer to stay unique as they please. Adding up to the motivating lyrics, the song is also catchy and fun to sing along with, making the track a preferred one in a playlist.
