Kim Yohan Makes His Solo Debut and Waits “No More”

It was a year ago Kim Yohan got the chance to enjoy the fame of debuting as the center of former boy group X1. Coming from small company OUI Entertainment, Yohan still managed to be among the many participants and became a fan favorite while earning first place in Mnet’s Produce X 101

Despite his growing popularity, the artist had the toughest post-X1 days compared to his teammates. And through the months, the show appearances, acting gigs and other schedules only kept him from what he greatly desired: performing on stage. Being patient with all trials, Kim Yohan finally got to re-debut as a solo artist with his debut single “No More.”

The Single

A single like “No More” from an artist like Yohan is indeed an unexpected but pleasant surprise. The song is sweet and simple with mid-tempo beats and peppy verses. Beginning with a gentle tone and structure, the song continues to please the listener with mild instrumentals and gentle verses. The song was produced by Zion.T, which adds a jewel to the crown. Accompanying Zion.T, Yohan also had a hand in penning the lyrics for the song. The lyrics convey the feeling of a one-sided love as he finds it hard to confess to his crush.

Surprisingly, the song’s priority is not to be addictive, but to gratify the listening experience for fans. The repeated tagline, “No More,” will instantly get stuck in your head as it is hard not to start singing along at the end of the first verse. The second verse gives a glimpse of Yohan’s much appreciated rapping skills and builds up to a catchy finale. In the end, the song succeeds in cheering its audience and stays as a delightful listen in the playlist.

Music Video

The music video is another treat with bright colors and aesthetic visuals. The shots shift to different places and settings featuring the singer in different outfits. The theme of each setting is unique and matches the idol’s colorful clothing. Yohan is the epitome of a perfect flower boy as he pouts and is coy at the camera, making fans’ hearts flutter. The singer also gifts his fans with a number of cute expressions that are worth being saved and treasured as GIFs.

The inevitable charm of the idol pervades as he assembles with a group of background dancers to perform the simple yet energizing choreography. The key dance move of Yohan’s cute gesture of gently tapping his cheeks during the chorus is already getting attention and could surely end up as a new TikTok trend. Without any complicated theories to interpret, the viewers get to enjoy a three-minute entertainment reel.

Final Thoughts

With heavy EDM and pop tracks gaining more attention, it is natural to expect dark concepts from an artist like Yohan. Yet the singer plays well with a lighter concept and charismatically influences the fandom with a refreshing beat. With “No More,” the artist gets to showcase his playful charms that are only seen in his off screen moments. Though the single has not completely utilized Yohan’s potential as an artist, a bright song is essential at times to just relax and enjoy.

Kim Yohan is also set to kick off his idol journey as part of OUI Entertainment’s boy group WEi. With great hope and expectations, we are yet to see what the group has in store!
