The Return of The Rose
After a long legal battle with their company, The Rose has made their triumphant return! The band’s newest single “Black Rose” is a tribute to the undying dedication of their fans.
It’s been a little over a year since the band’s last release, their euphoric summer single album RED. While also a summer release, “Black Rose” takes on a much more somber feel. In addition to the band’s legal struggles, keyboardist Dojoon also enlisted in the military this past July, so it’s no surprise this release is an emotional one. The track opens with the keyboard, which also gives the song its steady build. The instrumentation starts to grow in the second verse, with Woosung’s vocals swelling in the chorus, but the song hits its true climax at the very end, particularly with the repetitive “don’t you be afraid” lyrics that feel almost like a call-and-response between the band and their fans.
The music video for “Black Rose” is even more emotional than its musical counterpart. Filled with clips of the band in their off-time and behind-the-scenes before building to shots of them at concerts, the video is a heartfelt montage of the group’s efforts the past year, and an homage to the love from their fans. With a song and video as emotional as “Black Rose,” the track feels like a better gift than any fan could’ve asked for.
