Best of September B-Sides

With so many K-Pop groups making comebacks this month and September now coming to an end, it seems like a great time to look back at some of the wonderful B-side tracks released during this time.

“Golden Goose” by A.C.E

A.C.E made their comeback on September 2 with HJZM: The Butterfly Phantasy. The opening track, “Golden Goose,” starts off with electro beats, cruising through a poppy verse before speeding up to an aggressive chorus. The sound is very similar to what we’ve heard from A.C.E before but with a slightly different pacing, making it a fun track to keep on repeat. “Clockwork” by TAEMIN

After initially being postponed due to a wrist injury, TAEMIN made his solo comeback on September 7 with Never Gonna Dance Again: Act 1. “Clockwork” is a beautiful ballad, a genre TAEMIN excels at, opening with a mournful sounding piano before more pop elements are introduced, including the sound of a ticking clock. The background music keeps a similar pacing throughout the track, letting TAEMIN’s vocals shine in all their glory. For more on TAEMIN and his incredible comeback, check out the link here.

“Weather” by fromis_9

Over a year since their last comeback, fromis_9 made their return with My Little Society on September 16. “Weather” starts out with a fun Super Mario-esque sound before fading away and allowing the upbeat pop music to burst through. It’s a fun listen, urging listeners to dance while brushing their teeth, cooking dinner, or getting ready for a night out with friends. “Insanity” by The Boyz

Seven months after the release of their first full-length album, The Boyz made their comeback on September 21 with Chase. While an unassuming track at first, “Insanity” will get stuck in your head very quickly. The Boyz took elements of EDM and turned them on their heads, toning them down to create something slightly different from the deluge of EDM-based tracks coming out now. “GxxD BOY” by EVERGLOW

Also released on September 21 was EVERGLOW’s second mini-album -77.82X-78.29 with B-side track “GxxD BOY.” There’s something incredibly refreshing about this track and of another group taking elements of EDM and using them to their advantage to create something unique.
