AB6IX Calms The Young Heart in “Stay Young”
Older fans who have stuck around with K-Pop through their teen years into their early adulthood like me must acknowledge at one point or another that songs might no longer be about or for them. A musical universe like K-Pop keeps itself current, young at heart, and might fall from relatability to some. AB6IX plays into that juvenal sentiment beautifully with their latest release, “Stay Young,” starting the new year with an aura of hope.
To those following the group, the past year might have shown a rough passage. The group lost its leader and went through a somewhat rough restructuring of their sound, with comebacks that didn’t necessarily do them much good in keeping a steady audience. Personally, I have been a huge fan of AB6IX since seeing them at KCON NY 2019. That live performance was my first encounter with the group and I remained enchanted. Nonetheless, “Stay Young” might be their new beginning.
The song is not loud and in your face; it doesn’t urge you to get up and dance along. Close your eyes, picture yourself lost in a crowd at a concert. The artists have already played most of their powerhouses everybody loves and need to calm the audience down with a heartwarming song that everyone can swing their bodies left to right and sing along in harmony; that’s “Stay Young.” It feels like an anthem; it calms down the young heart that might feel lost and that the world is against them. Guess what — that’s what growing up feels like.
If you’re still young, starting a new chapter in your life, or a little older like me but needing some reassurance that it will all be okay, AB6IX is here for you. Face it, we all wish to stay young at heart, and for about four minutes, you can with AB6IX.
