[Interview] Late Night Convos With P1Harmony

P1Harmony came crashing into the K-Pop world in October of 2020. They are the first boy group out of FNC Entertainment since the debut of SF9.  Prior to their debut, the sextet starred in a feature length action film where each member played a character who worked together to save the world from a virus that made humans violent. (Sounds vaguely familiar doesn't it?) This movie also served as the first taste of the P1Harmony storyline that is sure to leave fans asking for more.

Fresh off their “Nemonade” promotions, P1Harmony sat down to chat with us in the evening hours to give us an insight into their group dynamic, their go-to coffee order, and who is REALLY the messiest member of the group.

Q: Could you introduce yourselves and tell us about your positions in the group?

K: I’m Keeho, I’m the leader and vocalist of the group, and I am 20 years old in Korean age.

I: Hi I’m Intak and I am in charge of rap and dance.

Ji: Hi I am Jiung, I’m a vocalist, rapper, and dancer.

J: Hello I am Jongseob, my position is rapper and dancer, and I am 16 years old in Korean age.

T: My name is Theo, my position is vocalist.

S: My name is Soul, I am in charge of rap and dance.

Q: What do you think is P1Harmony’s distinct charm? What is the thing that makes people become fans?

K: We do a lot of things like VLives to interact with our fans. In the beginning, I think fans were attracted to our individual charms, but [it’s] mostly because we have such good chemistry with each other [that] fans like us. I think we are really funny, and that we have good conversations with fans so that's what makes them love us so much.

Q: What’s your pre-stage ritual? Is there anything you do before going on stage?

P1H: We actually have one! Want us to show you?

The Kraze: Sure! Go for it!

K: P1!

P1H: P1!

K: Amber!

P1H: Amber!

P1H: P! 1! Harmony! Woo!

K: When we chant, the part where we said your name we always change and put something different there.

Q: When you go to a cafe, what’s your go to order?

Ji: I was an Americano person, but these days I order a cafe latte.

I: I really like chocolate lattes, I am not a big fan of coffee.

K: For me, I really like milk tea. I don’t really like coffee, but these days I’ve been trying to drink it. I tried a really sweet coffee and it tasted really good. The most recent drink I had was a caramel macchiato and it was really good!

S: I’m not a big coffee drinker, I prefer milk tea with bubble.

T: I like ades, lemonade, blueberry ade, strawberry ade...any ade really. I don’t enjoy drinking water and prefer carbonated drinks.

J: I love Americanos, but I like cafe lattes too!

Q: Who’s a senior artist you want to collaborate with? These days K-Pop is so global so choose anyone you want!

Ji: It’s really hard to pick one. There are a lot of artists I’d love to collaborate with. I would say Post Malone

I: A$AP Rocky.

T: Charlie Puth.

Q: Who is a senior artist you look up to? Why?

I: Michael Jackson, because I love his genius and think he transformed the music industry.

Q: If you had to describe yourself with a color what would it be? Why?

K: I think I would be green or orange. The colors remind me of a chill, summer vibe. They are refreshing but also kinda dark. They have depth.

I: I’m red, because I’m super passionate and fiery.

Ji: Orange because it looks good on me. Also because I am similar to the fruit. Oranges have two flavors and so do I, you could say I have two sides to my personality.

J: Navy, because I am like midnight, I am a chill down-to-earth person.

T: I wanted to say black and white but after thinking about it I decided on grey. At times I look kinda dark and sharp like black but also light and bright like white. So that’s why I chose grey.

S: I think black because when I dance I get really focused like I am falling into a black hole and I want people watching me dance to feel like they are being sucked in the same way.

Q: If Keeho wasn’t the leader who would it be?

K: Would it be weird if I answer it?

The Kraze: No, Go for it!

K: I think Jiung, because he’s very detail oriented, he always catches the small things. There’s stuff I might forget and he’s always reminding me. I feel like he’s really good at remembering things. He could look at the other five of us and easily see the big picture. Soul actually refers to him [Jiung] as the dad of the group and that’s one of the reasons why.

Q: Okay, so if Jiung is the dad of the group, what is everyone else's role?

K: I’m the messiest. I do make a bit of a mess, but nobody really says anything about it though. I think I am also the mom.

Ji: I agree with that.

K: Theo is the cleanest, and he is like our morning alarm. He wakes everyone up.

T: I’m the “alarm mom.”

Q: Who is the best cook?

K: I think Jiung and Jongseob.

J: Me?!

K: He’s actually really good! He always comes in the latest [at night] and always cooks something that smells strong. It attracts your nostrils. I would usually walk over and ask “What is this?” and he’ll give me some. Everytime he cooks and feeds me it is always tasty. I think he’s good but just makes some unusual combinations, he is very creative in the kitchen.

Q: What’s your favorite food to have during promotions or after promotions?

K: Whether we are promoting or not, our must have food is rice. We do so much singing and dancing we need food for energy so we eat things that provide a lot of energy like dosiraks.

Q: What are your favorite songs from your debut album?

T: “Siren.”

K: It always changes! I think every song has a distinct sound and genre to it. These days I really enjoy “Nemonade.”

S: “That’s it.”

Ji: “Breakthrough.”

Q: What’s a concept you want to try next?

K: I’d love to try a ‘90s hip-hop boombap style. I think R&B would fit us well too.

Q: What advice would you give to your pre-debut selves?

S: Study Korean harder.

I: Practice songs more.

T: Practice dancing harder.

K: Keep pushing to do your best.

Q: When you win your first music show, what will your ceremony be on stage?

I: Freestyle dance!

K: I think singing our new song live but singing each other's parts instead. A part switch version!

Q: What do you want to be known for in five years?

Ji: An idol [group] that’s good at what they do.

Q: If you weren’t idols, what would you be?

Ji: I’d be a vet, I really like animals.

K: An interior designer.

J: An author or a pro-gamer.

S: I’d be a pro-gamer too!

Q: Have you thought of a name for your fans yet? If you picked right now what would it be?

K: Fan’s keep asking us for a name and trust us we get it, but we want it to be special. We don’t want it to be basic. We are still thinking about names and when we find the perfect name we will reveal it at the right time. I mean, we have to call our fans that name for the rest of our lives. We want to put a lot of thought and effort into the perfect name.

Despite the late hour, the members were a delight to chat with! Fans can rest assured that these six talented young men are just as excited about you as you are for them. While we anxiously await their first comeback, check out their debut track “Siren!”
