Hey Mister

For this week’s Throwback Thursday, we are honoring the “Mr.’s.” Let’s take a look at some of the iconic “Mr.” songs of K-Pop!

 “Mr. Simple”- Super Junior

“Mr. Simple” is a song that is anything but simple. The track begins with a cool jazz sound before immediately jumping into a dance song. “Mr Simple” is chock full of energy, as it has layers of fast-paced synths, flashy stages with equally flashy dance moves, and exciting outfits. The most iconic part for “Mr. Simple” is the key dance point where the members of Super Junior are shaking their hands in the air. It has been called a variety of funny names from fans, but they often are based around the similar themes of “I just washed my hands and there are no paper towels” or “Ouch! I just burned my hand.”

“Mr. Chu”- Apink

Apink went all out with the cute concept  for “Mr. Chu.” The whole song is like a fresh breath of air; it is a light tune but incredibly addictive. The music video is just as refreshing and is about the girls falling for a tennis player. It includes bright pops of pinks throughout the music video, including a pink tennis court and the bright pink floral dresses that the members wear at one point. The dance ties the whole song together as it is just as cute and crush-worthy as the group.

“Mr. BangBang”- Dalshabet

“Mr. BangBang” is an upbeat tune with a cheery melody, making it an easy but happy listen. The music video really brings together the cuteness from the song while adding cool concepts with Dalshabet’s style and choreography. The video focuses around the girls robbing a bank with punk and cowgirl styled outfits. The members are very charismatic throughout the video, making it an extremely entertaining watch.

“Mr.Mr.” - Girls’ Generation

From powerful vocals to an addictive chorus, this disco-pop song has it all. “Mr.Mr.” slowly grows from the beginning to then hitting you hard with their vocals in the chorus. The choreography in “Mr.Mr.” is so stylish you can’t help but to feel entranced the entire time you are watching, and the music video emphasizes just how effortlessly chic and strong Girls’ Generation are in both their vocals and performance.
