Hanboks, Childhood Scribbles, and a Star-Studded Runway — Seoul Fashion Week Days 5-6

2022 Spring Summer Seoul Fashion Week already showed the diversity of the upcoming trends, and Days 5 and 6 were no different. Sophisticated hanbok-inspired extravaganza is constantly mixed with the provocative edginess of some other brands. Just one day prior to the official ending of the event, Day 6 closed with a star-studded runway with idols such as A.C.E’s Jun, Ciipher’s Tan, Luna, Maddox, Kim Woojin, and former GFRIEND members Eunha, Umji, and SinB, who took part in UL:KIN’s fashion film as their first schedule as VIVIZ.

Day 5

tibaeg — Love my lucky life

Day 5 opened with tibaeg’s very lovely fashion film, bringing nature and romance into the focus. The collection is filled with prints in the bright colors of nature during spring and summer—from yellow and orange to pink, purple, green, and blue, there is everything but in a toned down way with a muted base while the silhouettes also represent romance and poetry.

Sserpe — FREE YOUR SPIRIT

The second collection of the day was a bit more provocative than what you might be used to from Korean brands. The up-and-coming brand Sserpe is rough, hot, free, and sexy. They aim to create a new cultural code that combines hippie and rock through unisex, casual fashion items. This is a brand for unique trendsetters who truly want to express themselves freely. Their casual yet trendy pieces have been worn by idols like JAY B and VERIVERY’s Gyehyeon, just to mention two. The FREE YOUR SPIRIT collection was created using interesting motifs such as constellations, alcohol, and tattoos to capture the free spirit of Sserpe, while the denim products were created in collaboration with the denim brand Dilletantism to highlight the sexiness of Sserpe.

DOUCAN — Timeless

For the third collection, we are back to a fashion film that reminds us of the big Italian fashion houses. It’s luxurious, very elegant, and sophisticated. DOUCAN’s 2022 spring-summer digital runway created a Timeless mood where the past and present and the East and the West coexist. The collection mixed elements of the Korean traditional hanbok and Western clothing with the brand’s original artwork patterns that boldly go back and forth between East and West. This collection represents what we think of the eternal beauty of fashion—gorgeous, dreamy, and ethereal. 

Fleno Seoul — PERSONA

The original inspiration for Fleno Seoul’s PERSONA collection is the fact that in modern society, we all have several personalities and we all have to fit into several roles—a kid at home, a student at school, an employee at work, a friend, etc… With this collection and show spiced up with contemporary dance and colorful wigs, the brand cheers for the various “personas” to continue to challenge diversity and cultural values in society through hanging out together without fearing self-expression. 

AIMONS — Joyful Ode

AIMONS’s spring-summer collection brings metallic colors and reinterpreted classics into our spring-summer wardrobe. Elegant utility and a cheerful take on sportiness meets modern tailoring to express a unique, edgy style.

Day 6

GRAPHISTE MAN.G — Man.G: Re-penetration

History repeats itself a.k.a everything in this world is cycling and whatever fades away will begin again as a newer meaning is added to it. Fashion is a great example for this—just look at all the retro-inspired trends! This repetition is the main idea behind the Man.G: Re-penetration spring-summer collection that aims to fill in the gaps of the past with the present to pervade the future with the creative combination. It’s a fun and hip collection that also shows some inspiration to play with makeup and accessories.This is another collection for the cool kids—yes, that also means us, and we are ready to make room for these pieces in our wardrobes.

TWWL

TWWL’s spring-summer collection was inspired by photographer August Sander's work and is based on the brand's unique sentiment that incorporates a range of personalities. The clothes presented on the digital runway can be mixed in various ways, giving freedom to individual style.  The brand playfully fuses masculine tailoring with feminine charms and a vintage sensibility.

CASHIERS — The tradition is new

CASHIERS’s very feminine and dreamy collection captures the beauty and philosophy of hanbok. Reinterpreted with modern implementation, the flowy clothes borrow traditional colors and details such as the collar or norigae. This collection aims to express beauty that transcends time and space through the interaction between tradition and modern times.

MMAM — Messy Scribble

MMAM’s collection takes us back to our childhood playtime with the aim of comforting the tired and struggling hearts amidst the pandemic. The prints are all inspired by scribbles, unconsciously folded and cut up papers expressed in the fabric as if they were a child's drawing.

UL:KIN — everlasting

UL:KIN is a social fashion brand known for closing the gap between art and the public. Their LSD collection is also based on art, upcycling, deconstruction, reconstruction, and hybrid fashion—including upcycling some beautiful wedding dresses into exciting ready-to-wear pieces. The brand seeks to bring sustainable fashion closer to the public through expressing different artistic ideas that cross over the boundaries. Their fashion film is trippy and the edgy clothes were presented in a star-studded digital runway. Fashion models were accompanied by visual and fashionable idols Jun, Tan, Luna, Maddox, Kim Woojin, and VIVIZ, the upcoming girl group consisting of former GFRIEND members Eunha, Umji, and SinB who also gave their first interview as VIVIZ regarding Seoul Fashion Week.
