Horror Dramas That Make You Scream

The best time of year is upon us: Halloween! The time when things go bump in the night and it’s time to come out to party. If this sounds like a blast to you and you like Korean dramas, you are in for a treat. This list of horror dramas will have you screaming in fear or laughter—we’ll let you decide.

The Guest

K-Drama fans will want to watch this drama with the lights on. A young psychic suffers a violent incident and spends his adulthood moonlighting as a taxi driver while searching for the demon that caused him and his family harm. During his pursuit, he encounters Choi Yoon (Kim Jaewook), a priest whose older brother was an exorcist, and Kang Gilyoung (Jung Eunchae), a downtrodden police officer with a massive chip on her shoulder. When Yoon and Gilyoung were younger, they were together during the worst night of their lives. The three form an alliance to take down demons while searching for the one that stole their innocence then ran away like a thief in the night. The Guest is available to watch on Netflix.

Sweet Home

Fans of the webtoon were glued to their devices when this dropped late last year. Sweet Home follows Cha Hyunsoo (Song Kang) as he navigates life on his own. After a horrible accident, he’s left an orphan and has to move into a shoddy apartment complex to save money. Hyunsoo is a recluse, preferring to stay online rather than interacting with his neighbors. One day, he goes to get a box of food he ordered and discovers that someone, or something, has eaten it. Hyunsoo follows the trail of food to his neighbor’s place and sees a monster eat her cat. Yes, you read that right. If blood and gore are not your thing, you may want to skip this drama.

Hyunsoo escapes and soon bands with his neighbors to try to keep everyone in the building safe. But things get interesting when Hyunsoo discovers that he is slowly turning into a monster himself. Will he be able to stay sane long enough to save everyone, or will he succumb to the darkness? This webtoon-adapted drama is available on Netflix.
