NCT 127 Becomes Everyone’s Favorite Vampires After Their New Repackage Album

Our favorite boys (vampires?) are back and once again breaking their own records with the repackage version of their third studio album—you can read our full NCT 127 Sticker review here.

Following a university concept during the back-to-school season, here we are with vampires just in time for Halloween. Sounds pretty mainstream and basic, right? Well...we are talking about SM Entertainment, so nothing is that simple, believe us. After Favorite, we have just one question left: Doyoung’s next musical role is gonna be Dracula, right?

Favorite and “Favorite (Vampire)”

It seems like nobody can stop NCT, and we are not complaining. With each unit consistently breaking records this year, Favorite has become SM Entertainment’s most ever pre-ordered album with 2.2 million pre-orders. It debuted at No. 1 on MelOn 5 Minutes Chart and peaked at No. 1 one on their Real Time Chart, while the music video surpassed 1,000,000 views in only 50 minutes. On a more international note, it also reached 15 No. 1s on iTunes and entered iTunes United States TOP 10 a few hours after release.

From flutes in “Sticker,” we went to whistles in “Favorite (Vampire).” The new title track is about a very passionate love—that’s definitely over the platonic phase, the physical intimacy is clear in the lyrics. But for some reason, it still feels like this love can’t be completely fulfilled.

You can’t really use one descriptive word for this song; it’s really like a mix of all. “Favorite (Vampire)” has smooth R&B pop elements but also strong rap and hip-hop breaks. With “Sticker” as a title track, we said that the members couldn’t really show their true colors. It feels the opposite with “Favorite (Vampire),” which highlights their individual sounds and visuals. Their vocals blend so well together and this song showcases that once again! The chorus stands out from the rest of the song. It is pretty easy compared to the rest of the track, and that whistle in the instrumentation is groovy and sweet. The final chorus is followed by a clear climax, which gives the overall song a nice build up, making it a satisfying listen.

The music video is a whole experience even if you are not into vampire movies. The styling and the CGI make everything pretty theatrical and beautiful which works well with the great camera movements. The passion of the song comes through, and the cool dance break adds an extra dubstep-like dynamic touch to the track where it would just go back to the same bridge in the audio.

“Love On The Floor” and “Pilot”

“Love On The Floor” is also a sensual love song, but instead of a vampire castle, we are on a steamy dance floor—or maybe it’s the dance floor of the castle actually. The track is based on old school R&B with hip-hop elements. It has a really catchy and well-balanced beat that also lets the members’ vocals and rap skills shine. “Love On The Floor” has a high potential to become the next fan-favorite B-Side.

In the third newly released song, NCT 127 becomes the “Pilot” of the relationship. Taking charge and preparing a paradise—whether that be from New York City to Paris—where they can get “closer to happiness.” “Pilot” is a chiller track compared to the other two, but it gives real groovy NCT 127 vibes.

And the ocean of NCT content still hasn’t dried out! We are now completely ready for Analog Trip NCT 127 starting October 29 and that NCT 2021 comeback in the upcoming months.
