Seoul Fashion Week Kicked Off with DPR LIVE — From Brunch to AI

Seoul Fashion Week is finally back! The 100% pre-produced digital event will feature a total of 37 fashion films, introducing a lot more than the 2022 spring/summer trends. It also draws attention to the 600 years of history and the bright future of Seoul by taking the digital runway to the Korean capital city's historical landmarks and modern locations. This goes beyond giving you the front row experience; you will feel like you actually traveled to Korea to attend the fashion week and explore the city between presentations.

For the opening of the fashion week, hip-hop artist DPR LIVE took over the beautiful night view of Gyeonghuigung Palace on October 7. He hyped up the mood by performing three of his tracks, “Laputa,” “Martini Blue,” and “Hula Hoops,” before the first show aired.

NOHANT — Morning Routine

The first show of the day was presented by NOHANT at the Gyeongbokgung Palace. The modern brand elevated the signature brunch look in their SS22 collection called Morning Routine. The comfortable everyday pieces were inspired by the designer’s imagination of a brunch with family and friends following an effortless morning routine. The athletic touches and neutral colors mix well with the seasonal green color.

NOTKNOWING — STREETFIGHTERS SUNDA

The second digital runway of the day took us back to the modern home of Seoul Fashion Week with NOTKNOWING’s fashion film. The up-and-coming brand’s edgy concept film begins at ACE CAFE, located outside London, England, and brings inspiration from the culture of “Street Fighters Sunday.” These are the cool kids you don’t want to mess with.

GREEDILOUS — Atlantis

Up next, GREEDILOUS brought us to Atlantis through the National Folk Museum of Korea. The colorstory of the legendary underwater city brought inspiration to this collection that was made from environment-friendly materials. The modern, colorful prints gave personalities to the sea animals that might be living in the mysterious city.

PARTsPARTs — Reliable Time

PARTsPARTs played very well with the opportunities provided by the modern location of Arumjigi Office Building in their digital fashion video. “Design the world we live in.” That is the message this spring-summer collection portrays through the imagination of the designer, feeling the recovery and hope even during the darkness and despair of COVID-19.

SEOKWOON YOON — Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The last digital runway of the opening day showed a nice contrast between the historical location of Unhyeongung Palace and its artificial intelligence-inspired collection. SEOKWOON YOON spring-summer pieces combined traditional tailoring techniques and technologies to show a new direction for the future of fashion. Every piece kept your eyes looking on the screen by mixing muted colors with unfamiliar futuristic silhouettes in a historical setting and retro decor elements.
