Best of December 2021

Even though most artists resolve to release beautiful winter and holiday-themed singles this month, 2021’s end has been quite busy for many acts. Let’s take a look at some of the best B-sides from December.

“Company” - EVERGLOW

The dance anthem “Company” by EVERGLOW matches the energy of their lead single “Pirate” and would make a good follow-up single. On the track, the girls boast about their power and let their peers know they should be grateful to be in their company. The track was co-composed by songwriter Christian Fast, who has worked with countless K-Pop acts.

“Free (I’m Gonna Be)” - G.Soul

R&B singer-songwriter G.Soul released his self-written independent album Natural earlier this month. The third song “Free (I’m Gonna Be)” was described by the singer as a freestyle about aiming to become free from everything that was weighing him down, and the track perfectly encapsulates the topic of the mini-album.

“WONDERLAND (Symphony No.9 ‘From The Wonderland’)” - ATEEZ

We all got to witness this masterpiece as a live performance earlier this year, and we are all thankful that ATEEZ decided to release the studio version of “WONDERLAND (Symphony No.9 ‘From The Wonderland’)” on their latest album. The studio version stayed true to the original performance with the grand orchestral arrangement, but also features a new verse by Mingi, who wasn’t part of the live version.

“New Axis” - NCT U

Produced by Jayrah Gibson, the genius behind NCT U’s “YESTODAY,” NCT U creates a new trio of rappers including Taeyong, Mark, and Yangyang for “New Axis.” The ultimate hip-hop intro to NCT’s 2021 album Universe, “New Axis” establishes that the world moves around a new axis created by NCT members and their power as trendsetters, with boastful lyrics co-written by Taeyong and Mark.

“CWS” - Woosung ft. BM (KARD)

Woosung of the rock band The Rose released his independent album Genre this month and featured some of his best friends, including BM of KARD on the lo-fi track “CWS.” The smooth R&B track is about vibing in the California West Side and enjoying the sea breeze and beaches of Hollywood.
