TXT B-Sides
While TXT (Tomorrow X Together) isn’t a hidden gem in the K-Pop world, many listeners may still simply know them as the “little brother” group of BTS or by their title tracks. For a while, I only listened to their title tracks before finally diving into their discography and coming out with a handful of B-sides that new TXT fans might enjoy.
“Our Summer”
Off of their debut mini-album, The Dream Chapter: STAR, “Our Summer” is a soft and sweet pop song about how a person can change everything. No matter what may be going on around them or how bland the scenery may be, that person can make it feel like summer. The group even made a super cute selfie music video for the track, showing the five members goofing off and enjoying their time together.
“Can’t We Just Leave The Monster Alive?”
Another softer pop track that picks up during the chorus, “Can’t We Just Leave The Monster Alive?” is off TXT’s The Dream Chapter: MAGIC album. If you’re a fan of video games, then this track is perfect for you as it uses video games as an analogy for growing up and becoming an adult. The lyrics focus on the adventure, but instead of fighting the monster (the monster being becoming an adult), they’d rather stay in the forest instead.
“Maze in the Mirror”
This track is, simply put, a beautiful masterpiece. The soft acoustic guitar mixed with their stunning vocals sets this track apart from the rest on The Dream Chapter: ETERNITY. Not only is the music amazing, but the themes of trying to find oneself and feeling lost are also easily relatable. The electric guitar and drums coming in towards the end of the track help set “Maze in the Mirror” apart as well, building to a climactic end with Soobin closing the track with a soft “Find me please, please.”
“Wishlist”
From their latest mini-album, minisode1: Blue Hour, “Wishlist” triggers nostalgic vibes, resembling songs by pop-rock group Boys Like Girls. The calmer verses that lead up to a more upbeat bridge before exploding for the chorus is a move straight out of the pop-rock playbook, but TXT rock it just as well. With straightforward lyrics of wanting gift ideas for somebody, TXT even filmed a super cute and silly special music video for Christmas.
