Throwback Thursday: Hello Springtime

Spring is just around the corner for those in the northern hemisphere! As the days grow warmer and the sun shines longer, amp up your playlist with some of our favorite spring songs.

“Not Spring, Love, or Cherry Blossoms” - HIGH4, IU

In 2014, IU paired up with boy group HIGH4 for their debut song turned quintessential spring classic, “Not Spring, Love, or Cherry Blossoms.” With easygoing acoustic instrumentals and soothing vocals, the song makes for the perfect background music to a sunny spring day. The song topped the Gaon Digital Chart, knocking chart-favorite Akdong Musician and their track “200%” out of the top spot.

“Bom Bom Bom” - Roy Kim

For obvious reasons, you can’t get much more spring than Roy Kim’s debut hit “Bom Bom Bom” (literally “Spring Spring Spring”). The song aided in catapulting the singer to stardom, launching him to the tops of the Korean music charts. “Bom Bom Bom” sat at No. 1 of the Gaon Digital Chart for two weeks, ending the year as the fourth highest-selling single of 2013.

“Before Our Spring” - Jonghyun

Released as the follow-up single to his 2018 release Poet | Artist, Jonghyun’s “Before Our Spring” puts a somber, jazzy spin on the season. In the song, Jonghyun sings of not wanting spring to come, wanting to keep things as they are; he does, however, embrace the inevitability of spring. It’s an unorthodox approach to the season, but Jonghyun’s honey vocals and beautiful delivery make for a song suited for the warmth of spring.
