VERIVERY Gets Sucked into a Mysterious Story in “Get Away”

Starting with the teasers themselves, VERIVERY sets up a dramatic tone for their comeback. Featuring contrasting concept photos, the boys are keeping in line with story-driven tracks similar to their previous comebacks, “Thunder” and “G.B.T.B.” With “Get Away,” VERIVERY begins a new series dubbed as SERIES ‘O’ [ROUND 1: HALL]. The song is a reggae pop-based track with haunting vocals creating a dreamy atmosphere. The single album contains three tracks, including the B-side song “Numbness” and physical CD exclusive “Thank you, NEXT?”

“Get Away” was co-written by members of the production company The Hub, who have previously worked with ITZY, TREASURE, Kang Daniel, and many more. The song describes the feeling of being stuck in an endless loop and trying to break away from it. The music video matches the concept of the song by following the boys as they get sucked into a mysterious world. The video takes heavy inspiration from the story of Alice in Wonderland, with images of the infamous “rabbit hole,” wide shots of extravagant food and jewels, and being under constant surveillance. The video finds the boys trying to escape from this unfamiliar world and get away from the “poison” that they consumed. “Get Away” showcases a new and mature side to VERIVERY, both in terms of sound and visuals, exemplified by the choice of sleek suits, color scheme, and expensive set designs for the album photoshoot and music video.

The title track is supported by the B-side “Numbness,” which has a unique experimental sound with an electronic bass in the background. The song was co-written by Davey Nate, who worked with the group on their last comeback with “G.B.T.B” and has also worked with EXO and GOT7 in the past. With the new single album, VERIVERY moves one step closer to finding their sound. Check out the music video for “Get Away” below!
