SHINee is Looking for Atlantis in Their New Comeback

2021 is definitely the year of SHINee as they return with their repackage album, Atlantis, two months after the release of their seventh studio album, Don’t Call Me. The new album is led by the title track of the same name and two new B-sides.

“Atlantis” is a bright new pop song with an interesting percussion line accompanied by a rhythmic guitar and bass paired with SHINee’s signature delivery. The track was produced by ARCADES and one of SM’s resident EDM artists and SHINee’s labelmate, IMLAY. The song’s rap was written by hip-hop artist CHANGMO. The music video for the song follows the members in a highly animated and colorful underwater adventure looking for the lost world of Atlantis which stands as a metaphor of a lost love, and showcases SHINee’s staple strong choreography.

The two new B-sides on the repackaged version are “같은 자리 (Area)” and “Days and Years.” The former is a progressive R&B track performed as a monologue over a minimalistic production with a beautiful flute melody. The lyrics were co-written by member Minho and talk about being stuck in a stagnant life. “Days and Years” was co-written by R&B artist Colde and is an R&B-pop track with a hopeful message of being together no matter how much time passes by. The song beautifully showcases SHINee's harmonies and puts a spotlight on their vocals.

The repackaged version paired with the original version further solidifies why SHINee are veterans in the K-Pop music industry. Creating emotive music while staying true to their performative and catchy roots, SHINee is dominating the music scene once again. Check out the adventurous music video for “Atlantis” below!
