T1419 Makes A Dark Comeback With “EXIT”
T1419, the nine-member boy group that debuted earlier this year under MLD Entertainment with the song, “ASURABALBALTA,” are back with Part 2 of their Before Sunrise series, supported by the new single “EXIT.” The single also included the group’s pre-debut track “Dracula” for which the music video was released last year and quickly became a fan favorite track.
With their new song “EXIT,” T1419 dives into darker themes of school bullying, violence, and struggles faced by teenagers during their school life. The lyrics explicitly express the feeling of being beaten down repeatedly and the emotional and physical toll it takes on the individual. The average age of the members is 19, therefore the song is highly likely to be an expression of their own experiences in school. The hard hitting hip-hop track stands in contrast with their dance-heavy debut track, “ASURABALBALTA.”
The music video finds the boys in a brightly lit but constantly surveilled classroom. The boys sit still and appropriately when in the classroom, but unleash their pent up frustration in the grafitti drenched locker rooms. Using strong imagery and contrasting colors in sets and outfits, the boys put the spotlight on the darkness that lies beneath. The song paired with its music video is reminiscent of early works by NU’EST and BTS, who also talked about school bullying and violence. Riding the success of their viral debut, “EXIT” further solidifies T1419’s style and sound, making them a promising contender for rookie boy group of the year.
