Get To Know the Quirky Alt-Pop Crew, Balming Tiger

Balming Tiger is the latest sensation in the Korean Hip-Hop scene. Recently, after various big names in the K-Hip-Hop community recommended the crew’s music, Balming Tiger’s popularity increased significantly. Balming Tiger is composed of nine incredibly talented individuals that come together to create a unique dynamic. The crew includes Omega Sapien, sogumm, wnjn, and Mudd the student, producers San Yawn and Unsinkable, DJ Abyss, film-maker Jan' Qui, and editor Henson Hwang. Let’s get to know this quirky alt-pop crew.

Q: For our readers who might be unfamiliar with Balming Tiger, could you introduce yourselves and your role in the crew?

Abyss: I am A&R with DJ at Balming Tiger and I am Abyss who is helping to operate with San Yawn and Henson Hwang. Thank you.

Q: What are everyone’s favorite dishes (ex: homemade, take-out, convenience store)?

wnjn: Kimchi stew made with pork. (돼지고기 김치찌개) It's Korean soul food.

Q: If you could be in a K-Drama, what type of K-Drama would you be in and what role would you play?

San Yawn: A close friend of the male lead in the K-Romantic comedy, and a [rash] character who creates a dramatic event that completes the [romance]. 

Q: What is your dream country you would like to visit after the pandemic?

Sogumm: All co[u]ntries, everywhere

Q: What was your favorite toy growing up?

Jan’ Qui: Digivice. At that time, it was difficult to access computers or the Internet for a long time, and the Tamagotchi type of digital product was a highly innovative and addictive toy, unlike any other entertainment machine.

Q: Which superhero do you wish you could meet?

Omega Sapien: I’m the embodiment of a superhero so I won’t need to meet anyone.

Q: What are some songs you are listening to lately, that you can recommend to our readers?

Unsinkable: Hiatus Kaiyote - Get Sun

Q: If you could switch lives with a member of Balming Tiger, who would you choose and why?

Mudd the Student: Omega Sapien. I have only traveled abroad once, so I want to gain a lot of experience and live in various countries.

Q: Any last words that you’d like to give our readers?

Henson Hwang: Let's hope Covid-19 will soon step down and everyone will be healthy, and instead, the music we make will be the ‘Kraze.’
