“ONE”

Charisma is the name of the game in “ONE” as this particular title track is smooth, sexy, and alluring all in one. “ONE” has this sound and quality to it that just draws one in the moment the play button has been pressed. While this is not the first time many have seen a much darker and mature look from ASTRO, “ONE” cranks up the heat and adds a little spicy flavor to the group that fans have not exactly seen just yet. “ONE” oozes with confidence that gives the song an undeniable pull and is all about coming together and becoming one when feelings are realized, creating an explosive bond. It’s when ASTRO and their lover finally connect that things become out of this world; without their lover, something feels incomplete and missing from their lives.

Looking deeper into the song itself, “ONE” is catchy and energizing. Playing on the ‘90s influence of hip-hop and pop beats, the synth and electronic sounds come to the forefront of the song to give it that nostalgic feel that has been quite the trend in recent years in K-Pop. What takes “ONE” over the edge and adds a gritty texture to the song is the perfect blend of vocals from Moonbin, Sanha, Eunwoo, and MJ and the huskier tones from Jinjin and Rocky. There’s no denying that “ONE” will be a summer jam for 2021.

When it comes to the music video, the group does not fail to deliver gorgeous visuals. From the members donning various street and formal wear to the actual close-ups of the members, there is so much to take in. Viewers are also treated to the choreography for “ONE,” which is a staple for ASTRO as they are a group known for their dancing abilities. While the choreography isn’t super hard-hitting or in-your-face, the dance itself is so clean and smooth, it just adds a level of coolness to the comeback. While there is no exact plot to the music video (since the visuals and choreography take the forefront), one may miss the various uses of the colors red and blue that are splashed through the sets, lighting, and even wardrobe. But it’s even easier to miss when the colors mix and create the color purple to further emphasize their lyrics of “we come as (one).” The color purple physically and visually represents the moment of coming together and being one with their lover. Purple ultimately represents the bond and love that “ONE” expresses and is also a precious nod to their fans, Aroha, as their fanclub color is the color purple as well.

The Album

As the album consists of a total of 10 songs, ASTRO offers a wonderful range of songs. From upbeat pop dance tracks reminiscent of their debut days to ‘90s R&B-funk and hip-hop inspired sounds, All Yours  will have fans grooving along. But that is not all. As a second full album, ASTRO does not forget to showcase their vocal prowess with ballads sprinkled throughout the tracklist that hit the soul in a comforting and warm way. All Yours radiates a comforting, loving, and lively energy that is absolutely contagious and fulfilling. ASTRO has shown immense growth within the five years that they have been active. Despite this only being their second full album in their career, ASTRO continues on an impressive journey, propelling them further and further as a top boy group. It’s always a good time whenever ASTRO comes around and All Yours is another great release from the group.
