VAV’s Ace Bids a Thoughtful Farewell With Always

On the day of member Ace's military enlistment, VAV released digital single album Always. Consisting of three new tracks, each song on Always was written and composed by Ace as a gift to VAMPZ in anticipation of his short departure from group activities.

Rather than a music video, Always is accompanied by a live clip of the six members (excluding Baron, who is currently away for military service as well) performing the title track of the same name. The video simply features the boys and their individual vocal talents—including both rappers Ayno and Lou as vocalists—at standing mics atop a building, overlooking a lake and hilly scenery. The song itself is a very easy listen, mid-tempo with acoustic guitar, and the lyrics depict the purity of a love everlasting.

The other tracks on Always, "Goodbye" and "Dry Flower," are Ace solos. Both are songs that highlight the singer's vocal skill, although they are very different from one another despite that commonality. "Goodbye" is an emotional ballad over a piano melody, described by Ace as "a song about farewell and also a message from me," while "Dry Flower" is a strong synth-pop track.

The album and video's release was quickly followed by a video message as a word of parting from Ace to VAMPZ, where the singer expresses how dear his experiences with VAV are to him, and how he looks forward to being able to return with new experiences that will help him to become a stronger artist in the future. This, too, was followed by a second video message from the remaining members to Ace, wherein they individually express how his presence has impacted them as they've grown together, bidding him a safe journey, and of course that VAV will always be seven.
