The time has finally come as TAEMIN embarks on a new journey by beginning his military service. Titled Advice, this marks the artist’s third mini-album to date. Consisting of a total of five songs, TAEMIN doesn’t fail to deliver another masterful work of art.

“Advice”

If there is one thing that TAEMIN is well-known for when it comes to his concepts, it’s that he will always deliver on a dark and grungy concept, and “Advice” is no exception. The song itself is filled with this aggressive and sassy energy that speaks on how TAEMIN cannot be tamed or caged. One can try, but it’s best to follow his advice and not even attempt it. But should one ignore TAEMIN’s advice, they have to face the consequences of the fire and chaos that he will bring. To break down the song, instruments such as strings and piano play an integral part of the song which is enhanced by hip-hop beats.

The music video, like all his others, is primarily focused on the sharp and quick choreography. As the song speaks of not wanting to be trapped or caged in, there are points in the choreography that resemble flitting around like a hummingbird, with fast and sudden movements. It’s no surprise that “Advice” is risqué and filled with high-fashion moments. TAEMIN is not afraid to push the boundaries with exploring his fashion and style. Sporting a more androgynous look throughout the video, TAEMIN stuns with a beautiful and enchanting video that mesmerizes from beginning to end. Furthermore, one thing is for sure is that fans were quick to notice in the music video that there were accented colors of pearl aqua blue throughout, which can be an interpretation of paying homage Shawols (SHINee World) and beloved member Jonghyun whose presence is made known by SHINee and TAEMIN himself.

While it may be TAEMIN’s last album for a while, he leaves on a beautiful and strong note. As the last member of SHINee to enlist, fans have been preparing for this moment for quite some time. From seeing the youngest member debuting with SHINee, branching off to pursue a solo career, having to patiently wait for his older members to return from their enlistment periods, and then finally reuniting one last time together with SHINee before he leaves, fans have seen TAEMIN grow and flourish into the person he is today. It’s truly a bittersweet and momentous occasion. Advice is one for the books. It leaves with the promise of his return and a reminder for fans to hold onto this album until then.
