Female Idols Join in on K-Pop Dance Challenges
The social media app TikTok has allowed fans and artists to interact by dancing along to popular dance challenges around the world—especially K-Pop choreography. K-Pop idols have joined the app to promote their new comeback songs by creating dance challenges for fans to participate in. Though fans are not the only ones participating, as idols are teaming up to make collaboration TikTok videos to promote each other’s new songs and their friendships in the music industry. In no particular order, check out a few TikTok videos from the ladies in K-Pop.
STAYC Dancing to “Dun Dun Dance”
On May 18, STAYC members Sieun and Sumin posted a TikTok dancing to the chorus of Oh My Girl’s “Dun Dun Dance.” Even though the members of Oh My Girl are not alongside them in this TikTok, STAYC is showing their support for their spring release. The video can be found under the hashtag #DunDunDanceChallenge.
ITZY and STAYC Dancing to “ASAP”
On May 2, STAYC’s Seeun and Sieun shared a dance collaboration with ITZY’s Chaeryoung, Yuna, and Ryujin. Together, the girls danced to STAYC’s cute and bubbly track “ASAP.” There is also a second TikTok showing them dancing along to ITZY’s “마.피.아. On May 16, ITZY’s Yeji and Ryujin danced side-by-side with WJSN THE BLACK’s EXY and Bona to their mysterious track “마.피.아. In the morning.” There’s an additional TikTok showing ITZY dancing to WJSN THE BLACK’s “Easy.” The first video can be found under the hashtag #InTheMorningChallenge.
Brave Girls Dancing to “Purple”
On May 28, woo!ah! released two TikTok videos promoting their new single “Purple” with Brave Girls. It’s an adorable dance collaboration between a senior and rookie girl group. The videos can be found under the hashtag #PurpleChallenge.
fromis_9 Dancing to “Easy”
On May 23, WJSN THE BLACK’s EXY and Bona shared a duet TikTok with fromis_9’s Gyuri and Hayoung, with the girls dancing to WJSN THE BLACK’s single “Easy.” Unfortunately, fromis_9 does not have a TikTok account, but this video can be found under the hashtag #SoEasy_Challenge.
Taeyeon Dancing to “Next Level”
Of course, we also got to see an amazing duet with SM Entertainment’s Taeyeon of Girls’ Generation and aespa. In two videos on aespa's account, the members dance with Taeyeon to their new single "Next Level." It's another great visual of seniors and rookies collaborating together on TikTok. Hwasa of MAMAMOO dancing to JESSI "What Type of X"
Back on March 17, Jessi uploaded multiple TikTok videos to promote her song "What Type of X." In this one, Hwasa of MAMAMOO joins her in the choreography filled with attitude and charisma. Together, the girls bring a badass women vibe to the trend. Their video can be found under the hashtag #WhatTypeOfXChallenge.
