DRIPPIN and the Free Pass to Your Heart

There's a strong—and highly encouraged—trend among summer releases of bright, bright colors and playful music videos, and DRIPPIN's single album Free Pass is another fun addition to the crop. With only three songs on this release, they make the most of the space by providing some fun content that perfectly accompanies the title track of the same name and its music video. This album was made for the summer season, and it shines through effortlessly.

It’s Fun Cute Stuff

Their previous music video for "Young Blood" was so cool, it's a little hard to believe these are the same guys given there's only been three months between them. But DRIPPIN understands the assignment—they're here in "Free Pass" with big smiles and summer looks cute enough to accentuate their cute choreography.

You can tell at a glance what you're in for with this one; it's a bouncy pop song about the free pass into their heart for you and you alone. The video is appropriately high energy throughout, even during the slightly toned down verse. There's a pretty lowkey narrative as well, with the boys hanging around the garden and campsite settings doing their thing while a couple of them periodically hide "free pass" tickets in a few different places.  “To what end?” you may ask and, dear reader, I must admit: I have no idea. The video ends with them discovering the balloons where member Minseo had hidden a ticket earlier on. The translated lyrics sound pretty goofy and don’t explain much, but of course, that is the nature of translated lyrics.

The experience is just so uncomplicated—it's fun because it's simple, and we're all having a great time.

"STAY" keeps the upbeat mood going with its smooth guitar backing and sweet vocal harmonization. Clearly stated by the title, "STAY" is about the desire to stay together and nothing more; it's just a good, easy listen. Finally, "WISH'' gives the listener a good ten seconds to prepare before launching into a song even more kicky than the title track. With a much quicker tempo, "WISH'' carries an air of excitement with it in a pretty literal representation of their lyric: "My heart is pounding / The rhythm is getting faster."
