Rookie Group KINGDOM Makes Their First Comeback

Inspired by great rulers of history, KINGDOM has one of the coolest concepts among the new generation of rookies. The group’s debut mini-album was centered around member Arthur, taking inspiration from the medieval European story of King Arthur and the tale of Excalibur. For their first comeback, KINGDOM introduces their audience to the story surrounding the great emperor Chiyou of China. The mini-album is titled History Of Kingdom: Part II . Chiwoo, with “KARMA” serving as its lead single.

Emperor Chiyou was known as a sagacious ruler. Themes of his personality are portrayed in the song “KARMA” through the lyrics and the music video; the anguish and pain of the harsh world, paired with a deep sense of responsibility for healing and sacrifice, are evident through the track’s lyrics. KINGDOM tackles this social judgment throughout their album. The music video features traditional Chinese set designs, and the boys perform a serene choreography in different variations of traditional robes.

The album opens with “Intro: Echoes of Nirvana,” a cinematic instrumental track. Unlike most intros, “Intro: Echoes of Nirvana” is a full-length track, telling the worldview story of the album through music. The album’s story is revealed through “KARMA” followed by the beautiful pop ballad “Eternity,” which expresses the sincerity of their love and how it is eternal like time. KINGDOM raises the tempo with track four, “Magical,” a future house song with passionate lyrics about finding the lost light in ourselves. “Warning” is a dance-pop track about the group’s fatal temptation that is inescapable. The album closes with the group’s first fan song, “MAKE US.” With their fans known as Kingmakers, “MAKE US” is the group’s way of thanking them for their support. The city pop-influenced track is even more special because of the participation of members Mujin and Dann

With their unique concept and their label’s expertise in production design, KINGDOM has successfully captured the attention of fans. Overall a memorable song with a gorgeous music video, “KARMA” is a successful comeback. Once again, the group has already hinted at their next release, this time centering the story of member Ivan based on Tsar Ivan IV, also known as Ivan the Terrible. Undeniably, KINGDOM has upped the excitement for their concept and therefore it’ll be exciting to see what they have to offer us in the future. In the meantime, watch the stunning music video for “KARMA” below!
