Is it Possible to Fall in Love with Ten Even More? “Paint Me Naked” Says Yes

It can be hard to shine as an individual or to show your own personality in a group setting—especially in something as big and complex as NCT— but Ten always finds a way of expressing himself, and “Paint Me Naked” is a new peek of that. Everything about this concept has Ten written all over it. Some parts literally.

10velys had to wait three years for Ten’s third solo SM STATION release following “몽중몽 (Dream In A Dream)” and “New Heroes” in 2017 and 2018, but the wait was worth it. The growth of Ten not just as a musician but as an overall artist is clearly seen in “Paint Me Naked,” which  topped song charts all over the world just a day after its release.

The song follows the basic recipe for a successful summer pop hit with some hints of pop-rock here and there. Although I could personally imagine something more experimental from him in sound as well, “Paint Me Naked” is super fun and very addictive. The completely English lyrics speak about a free-spirited youthful love that is expressed very brightly in the music video.

The video screams Ten all over. To 10velys—and any NCTzen, WayZenNi, or SuperM fan— Ten’s artistry won’t come as a surprise. He is a true artist even outside of his idol career, and it authentically shows in every frame of the “Paint Me Naked” music video. Ten shows off several iconic, high-fashion looks in different casual but chic styles, and he clearly rocks all of them. Happiness and brightness radiate from all of his facial expressions, dance moves, and interactions with the people around him, and the way the music video plays around with the artworks and paints just makes everything come full circle. The ending scene with the chandelier and splattering paint is one the highlights of the video, which will probably be remembered for a long time by the fans—yes, Ten gets painted naked, kinda.

Ten once again proved that he is a multi-talented all-rounder, and the music video speaks for itself. Make sure to check it out down below, and feel free to rewatch it as many times as you need to.
