All Eyes On 3YE At Their First Latin America Livestream Concert

On July 31, 2021, 3YE officially introduced themselves to their Latin American fans by hosting the first exclusive virtual K-Pop concert in Latin America. The concert went live on Vevo at 6:45 PM Central Daylight Time (CDT). Before the beginning of the show, viewers were introduced to the cute and fun personalities of the three members of the group, Yurim, Yuri, and Haeun, with a virtual backstage tour. The girls gave us a glimpse into their preparation for the concert, including a short, self-conducted interview. They thanked the audience for joining them and then the real fun began.

The concert began with their debut song, “DMT (Do Ma Thang).” They came out strong and fierce, which was a shocking but welcome change from the cute, bubbly girls we had just seen getting ready moments before. They kept it simple, with just the three idols performing and no back up dancers. The vocals and dance moves were perfectly in sync, and it was an energetic start to the show that got the audience in the mood for what was to come. Following the opening number, the show switched into 8D Audio, a surround sound effect that made the whole thing feel and sound even more immersive and added to the experience. They performed their songs “OOMM (Out of My Mind)” and “QUEEN” with the same sharp ferocity that they showed in “DMT.”

They performed “ON AIR” next, which showed off maknae Haeun’s falsetto beautifully. Unfortunately, this part of the performance was slightly awkward, as they were in chairs and they had no audience to interact with. Understandably, the girls had been up and dancing for the entirety of the show and they needed a moment to rest; however, they looked a bit bored throughout the song. It would have been nice if they had chosen to vibe to it more, but we saw that change with their next song, “STAY WITH ME.” The trio were clearly more comfortable as they stood to sing this lovely ballad, and their little moments of cute choreography and soft vocals put the show back on the right track. After that, they had their individual moments to shine. Leader Yurim did a sexy and fun dance cover, while Haeun and Yuri both sang.

With a quick intermission and an outfit change, the idols were back and ready for part two, starting with their newest single “STALKER” followed by “YESSIR.” Both songs were bops with great rap parts and catchy hooks, but nothing could beat the ending number. For the last song of the concert, 3YE performed their “Intro (The Next Chapter.)” which led into the “STALKER - Remix Version.” This ending had so much power that if you weren’t a fan of 3YE before, you certainly were after seeing that.

Overall, the girls did a great job showing off their personalities and talents. It is probably odd and uncomfortable to perform without the energy of an audience to feed off of, but 3YE handled it well with only a few awkward moments. The show itself may have had a few glitches, but the idol trio kept it together by answering questions sent in by the audience and expressing their love for their Latin American fans. It was a vibrant and fun virtual experience that anyone would have been lucky to attend. We look forward to seeing what comes next from 3YE; they are definitely an underrated group that deserves your “3YE”s and ears.
