Fun Girl Group Singles to Brighten Your Day

One of the best types of K-Pop singles to exist are ones that aim to create a playfully energetic experience and leave you feeling refreshed after you listen to it. These are the singles that will turn your frown upside down. For this week's Ladies Corner, we'll be taking a look into a few singles by girl groups that are certain to uplift your mood and make you giggle!

Crayon Pop - "Bar Bar Bar"

There's no denying the 2013 classic "Bar Bar Bar" will give you an energy boost. Crayon Pop's music video for the single has nearly 70 million views to date, with comments in the video discussing how iconic the track is. The adorable colored tracksuits give charm to the high-spirited choreography. At the time, it truly was a single that made you think, "You just had to be there."

Orange Caramel - "Lipstick"

The catchy hit-making trio Orange Caramel will always be on a list referring to their unforgettable pop singles. All of their discography belongs in this specific list, but for this instance, we focus on their evocative single, "Lipstick." The music video's extraordinary bright orange aesthetic and sports theme, oddly enough, teaches the importance of teamwork, as the girls work together at defeating a table tennis player. It's a gem that is certain to stay with you for years to come.

T-ARA - "Bo Peep Bo Peep"

The 2009 hit "Bo Peep Bo Peep" is more than just an earworm track from the second generation — it's a way of life. Have you ever felt that nothing could possibly make you feel better when you're having a bad day? The lively choreography alone is certain to change that. One "Bo Peep Bo Peep" a day keeps the doctor away. T-ARA's trendy dance single and adorable cat-like props will leave an impact on you.

fromis_9 - "FUN!"

There's no way you can say the word "fun" without including fromis_9's single of the same name! The nine-member group repeats the word "fun" throughout the entirety of the single, giving depth and flavor to the term. The bursting enthusiasm and spark in their eyes will make it hard to stay sad when streaming this upbeat single. One comment wraps it up best when describing the single and music video, "It fills the dark empty hole in my heart with this cheerful art."

WJSN Chocome - "Super Yuppers!"

Even though this single came out a couple weeks ago, fans on Twitter and TikTok have spoken endlessly about WJSN Chocome's "Super Yuppers!" It's almost difficult to be sad when viewing the superhero-inspired music video. As stated in The Kraze's coverage for the single, "This adorable and fun superhero anthem will have you bouncing off the walls, desiring to be a superheroine just like the girls in WJSN Chocome." If that doesn't sum up the single's addictiveness for you, there's a TikTok user basking in the quartet's stage outfits, referring to Dayoung in an orange two-piece as "Cheese Ball." The video has now become a popular meme and turning everyone that listens to the single into a Sha Lu Lu.

UHSN - “POPSICLE”

In 2019, the Mnet reality program UHSN invited 10 international female K-Pop fans to Korea to learn about Korean pop music, culture, cuisine, and history for three weeks. The end result of the program came with a special music video and single titled "POPSICLE." It's a lovely gem that showcases the hard work and effort these women put into the perky track. It is highly unlikely to feel sad whenever this song comes up on shuffle, as the easygoing lyrics and upbeat sound will make you feel like dancing. The girls of UHSN certainly bring out the bubblegum pop sound that's often missed in K-Pop.

Girl's Day - “Oh! My God”

Continuing on from the storyline created in the Girl's Day single "Twinkle" comes the peppy and lovable "Oh! My God." The 2012 single and music video transport you to a night out at the club, donning brightly colored pieces with a hip-hop-inspired fashion sense. The comedic storyline throughout the video may seem corny, but it gives a unique flavor of what was popular during the previous decade. Whether it's the comedic video or the appealing choreography that wins you over, Girl's Day singles are forces to be reckoned with.
