A Look Into 2022 for K-Pop Girl Groups
K-Pop, like the rest of the music industry, has ups and downs that people put time and effort into predicting. One of the most agreed upon predictions for 2022 is that it will be a year dominated by girl groups. We’ve already seen the start of it with the creation of SM Entertainment’s super girl group, Girls On Top (GOT). Even further, there have been announcements about new groups from JYP Entertainment, YG Entertainment, HYBE, and HYBE’s new independent label, ADOR. These are only a few of the speculated debuts of 2022.
We started seeing the beginning of the fourth generation girl group takeover at the end of 2021, especially with the impressive debut by IVE. Other than new groups, there are also a number of anticipated comebacks, including a BLACKPINK full group comeback. There are predictions of even further expansion into the global market, as more groups utilize TikTok to make their songs viral.
While it's impossible to know exactly what this year will hold for the K-Pop industry, there’s no doubt that there will be many exciting moments to look forward to. No doubt, the girl groups are going to lead the way.
