Veteran boy group UP10TION has made their return with tenth mini-album Novella and lead title “너에게 미쳤었다 (Crazy About You).” With the last release coming in June 2021, it’s nice to see the group return after a fairly quiet year and troubles with COVID-19 infections in 2020. Three members are still missing from the lineup, with Jinhoo away on his mandatory military service and Lee Jinhyuk and Kim Wooseok still focusing on solo activities. 

The previous title track releases tended to be very bright and upbeat dance tracks, but we see a shift in sound with “너에게 미쳤었다 (Crazy About You).” The fresh sound has the boys with a more somber, ballad influence in the melody that helps to showcase their vocals more than in the past. The slower tempo gives a more impactful feel to the song as the boys sing of the regrets of a failed relationship. The change in sound definitely packs a punch and makes the comeback more memorable, giving a more in-depth look at the group as talented musicians and vocalists.

The music video seems to fit the vibe of the song as well, trading the overly bright neon colors for a more white-dominant palette sprinkled with color. The setting takes place in an art gallery, where the works of art act as the pop of color in the video. The outfits often showcase neutral colors, and the flowing tops add to the smooth choreography.
